"Hey Steve!" Rosie spoke, catching up to the man.
"Hey Rosie, what's up?" Steve asked, slowing his pace slightly to allow Rosie to match his speed.
"Not much, where you goin'?"
"I was thinking of visiting Peggy, why?" Steve felt too stressed out by the previous day's events, and he felt his only escape would be being with the one person who felt like home. Rosie shot him a sad smile, knowing that the woman was bound to pass soon.
"Do you want company?" Rosie asked.
"I wouldn't mind it." Steve agreed, as they reached the outside of the building.
"Sure, I'll drive then." Rosie had her car keys prepared for the small fiat she drove, leading the way for Steve who was lost in his thoughts.
His relationship with Fury was rocky at the moment, however, unbeknownst to him, Fury had tried to pull some strings to get the project delayed.
"You should ask out that nurse who lives across from you." Rosalie suggested, starting the car.
"Did Nat make you say this," Steve tutted.
"No, I didn't even know Nat suggested that. But she's not wrong!" Rosalie said, causing Steve to laugh. He was avoiding the conversation.
"You seem sad, do you wanna hang out afterwards? We can go wherever you'd like." Rosalie's offer had caused a smile to sit on Steve's face.
"I'd love to hang out, you can pick where."
"Really?! You know I'll just pick an icecream parlour! But that'd be good for you because ice cream solves everything. It's like... magic. It's otherwordly."
"If that's what you wanna go for then we'll go." Steve chuckled.
"Perfect!" Rosie responded, her eyes trained on the road. There was a silence that floated in the air. Rosie sat in her thoughts, wondering whether she should ask the man what's wrong, offer to be his shoulder, or whether it would be too awkward for him.
"Steve?" She finally asked, breaking the silence as Steve hummed his response. "Are you okay? You don't seem it. Do you want to talk about it?"
Steve paused. It'd help to talk about it to someone, but it was about a mission. The information most likely wasn't best to share, especially with someone who wasn't even an Avenger. But then again, knowing her and Natasha's friendship, Natasha probably already told her. Still, it was the irresponsible thing to do regardless.
"Do you ever think about how we are all part of one team?" Steve questioned. Rosie shot him an awkward smile in response.
"I'm not really... part of that team." She awkwardly spoke, returning her gaze back to the road in front of her.
"Rosa, you became part of this team when you entered that building, when you acted like a friend to everyone in that tower. You care about everyone there. You are part of this family, whether you go out fighting or not." Rosie smiled at his words, feeling a warmth inside her at knowing she was accepted onto the team. "But what my point is, is that sometimes it feels as though we aren't working as a team. When we are on missions we should all be working together, not withholding information. It feels like a breach of trust."
"Is this about Nat?" Rosalie awkwardly asked, not wanting to get caught up in between this drama.
"Natasha told you about the mission?"
"Not really, she told me little parts about why you were pissed at her."
"Well it's not about Natasha. Fury may be the one handing out the missions but he can't be controlling them fully when he isn't the one out on the field. It endangers everyone on the mission."
