Base Upgrade

The base was way different. The first thing I noticed was that instead of a bed, there was a crib. The crib was smaller than his bed, just a twin size- he would need to upgrade if he was going to be the most comfortable. The sheets had rainbows and unicorns on them- the mattress looked hard and could at least use a mattress cover to make it more comfortable. The mobile was attached to the crib- which could also use an upgrade. On the wall behind the crib was pink wooden cursive letters that said Brandon. The windows now had transparent, rainbow colored curtains.

The changing table was now on a cabinet, with 6 cubbies on both end caps. The sheets matched the bed sheets, as it was the same size as the crib. It had one of the attached rails, to prevent him from rolling off. In each of the cubbies on one side, were changing supplies- including a bunch of different patterned diapers. On the opposite side were some toys, bottles, and other accessories. On the wall above the changing table was a large photo of Brandon, sitting on the floor in the living floor, on his knees. He was wearing just a diaper, with an Elsa pajama top. He had fuzzy socks on. In his mouth was a pacifier that was just loosely hanging as he looked up- presumably towards the TV- and was lost in it. He had a sippy cup in his one hand. Anything that was not Brandon, was blurry. The photo was large and on a canvas, and was bordered with decorations of clouds, crowns, unicorns, and rainbows.

In the corner of the room there was a foam playmat, which was enclosed by a toddler play enclosure going from wall to wall. Also in the corner was a hammock that had the large stuffed bear. The edge of the ceiling was lined with LED lights and there was the simple night light still plugged in. Inside the closet was the toy box and clothes. The desk was pretty much the same, except that the monitor was now sitting on that- along with a unicorn humidifier. On the wall with the desk, the bulletin board had some pictures, including the one of him sleeping on her shoulder. There were shelves on both side, which had pictures of him in his new wardrobe.

Brandon asked if she was sure this was a good idea. I think he was too overwhelmed to realize that this stuff would have had to be ordered long before he made the decision to commit to this. She assured him that it was. He asked about what would happen when they had guests over, she told him that the door would just need to be kept shut, to which he replied that it didn't even have a lock. She told him that it would be fine and any of the stuff not in the bedroom, such as the new high chair, would be moved into the room.

She had him climb over the toddler enclosure and sit on the foam padding, to play with his toys, as she browsed the computer. Brandon played with me, pretending that we were shopping and looking for new fun things to-do; which allowed me to remember more attacks that I could use on the enemies. Eventually, she had him walk over to the changing table and climb up the stool, to lay down. She changed him and put the used diaper in the diaper pail in the cabinet. She gave him a bottle and had him walk over to the crib- he used the stool to climb up to a point where he could step over the rail. He then laid down, as she swaddled him and gave him a bottle. She turned on the mobile and then exited the room. I laid with Brandon- who's demons were coming back in full attack.

As the monitor's light was on for the entire time, I couldn't move. Not until Jenny came in. She hopped up on the changing table- which I realized was her bed as they both wouldn't fit comfortably in the crib. She removed the towel that was on top, where she changed him so his diaper wouldn't make the bed a mess. Once she was asleep, I was in defend mode. Elly had been left in the living room, so I was on my own. It was a battle, but with my magic wand- I was able to hold off anything from coming in.
