The cold air nipped at the little bit of skin that was exposed to the cold. I trended through the snow as it laid out before me. Trees upon trees stood before me, I looked around to see if I could figure out where I was. As I turned around I noticed a figure off in the distance. "Hello?" I called as I made my way towards them.

A strong breeze blew through and I covered my face to protect myself. When it had pass, I looked up and noticed the figure was gone. I stood there for a moment wondering if I had actually seen the person standing there. Until a strong pair of arms wrapped themselves around my waist. I tensed until I saw the tattoos lining the flesh and relaxed. "Magnus" I sighed softly.

His face found itself in the nape of my neck as he took in a deep breath. "Why are you out in the cold rainbow? You could get sick or worse hurt." I blushed at his closeness. "I honestly don't know why I'm out here, but why are you?" I felt a smile creep upon his lips. "I'm hunting." It was said with such a predatory tone that panic set into my skin. Something was screaming for me to run. Get out of there, but I knew I couldn't. At that moment I felt like a small mouse trapped with in the sight of a large cat. Before I could say anything else a sharp piercing feeling came from the nape of my neck. I let out a painful gasp.

The sound of my blood being swallowed by him filled my ears. The cold bit harder at my skin now that my warmth was leaving me. I felt my body grow weaker as I went limp in his grip, then he let me go to fall into the bitter cold of the snow. I looked up at him from the corner of my eye, barely able to move. With my last breath I asked out shakily. "Why?" He just looked at me with a painful look in his eye. The last thing I heard was "I'm sorry" as darkness filled my venison.

I sat up as I looked around at my surroundings. I was drenched in a cold sweat gasping for air. I looked to my alarm and saw it was only 3am. It flashed in it's red color at me. Confusion filled my head, the dream was there but my mind couldn't remember what I saw or what happened within it. It was like the whole dream never happened. I let out a long sigh as I fell back onto my bed. I stared up at the ceiling, it was all just a dream anyways.

As I turned over and got comfortable again I allowed myself to drift back off into the world of dreams in hopes of a better one.

Magnus

I hated this part. Draining their blood watching them die before me. I hated being the reason for taking someone's last breath, but I had to at least eat once a month. So that means only 12 kills in a year. Saying it to myself still didn't make it all that better for me. I felt the life slowly drain out of the poor girl that I was holding onto. She could of done something with her life. She could of been something. I slowly laid her body to the ground as Jackson was finishing off the girl he had wrapped in his arms.

I ran my fingers through my hair before wiping the little bit of blood off my face. The next part would be the even hardest. Hiding the bodies. All those missing people that no one can seem to find. All of those killings are vampire killings. We take 'precautionary' measures to ensure our kinds safety. So many options to dispose of a body fully are in our grasp, but the best possible measure are pigs. Just pull the teeth out or collect them after and the pigs will do the rest. It's sickening. This is why I make sure I only kill for what I need. I don't go on feeding sprees.

I looked at the now lifeless body that laid at my feet. Thoughts echoed through my mind. One of those thoughts that crossed my mind was 'What would she think?' I couldn't imagine seeing such hate in those eyes or even think there could be any in them. I sighed softly at the thought, then was pulled from my thoughts as Jackson cleared his throat. "Mag, don't just stand there, hurry up. We have a boar pack moving in and we have to get the bodies to their position." I nodded and set myself off to work with the poor girl that had the misfortune of running into Jackson and I, but everyone meets their fates one day.

The sound of the birds chirping brought a smile to my face. It was a beautiful day to do some hiking. I waited by my car with my bag full of water and some containers on my back.

It was a last minute plan as I couldn't sleep in to save my life. Luckily my friend Lucy was willing to come with me last minute. I just want to bring peace to my mind. I don't remember my dream or what could of happened in it, but it left not only my mind, but body on edge.

I was lost in thought when my friend Lucy came pulling up in her car. I looked up and blinked for a second before smiling. "Lucy" She stepped out of her car. She was wearing hiking boots, shorts, and a tank top. "Your outfit looks amazing by the way." She smiled at me. "Really? This? I just threw this together last minute."

We started on our hike through the woods as we started taking in our surroundings. I wanted to find a few berries, maybe some mushrooms, and a few other things. Foraging was something that gave me a peace of mind. As we continued our hike, I started to notice that everything had grown quiet in the area we found ourselves in. I looked over at Lucy, but kept it to myself.

The hair on the back of my neck rose as a rustling noise could be heard. Lucy and I stopped in our tracks. Before we knew it, a wild boar came running out as if startled.

In a quick action, I was up in a tree and Lucy was up on a large boulder has a few more boats came running through. We both looked at each other in concerned. Once we knew everything was in the clear we made our way over to where they had run from.

Peeling back the bushes, we gasped in horror. Flesh hung on what remained of the bones that were left. I stood there in horror as Lucy was on her phone calling the police.

We spent the next few hours talking to the cops. Some of them were busy taking photos of the crime scene. I heard one of them call out. "Sir! You need to come check this out." The officer that was talking to me excused himself before walking over there. "What did you find?" The other officer leaned over the remains and pointed at a few things. "This one is missing teeth. It looks as if they were ripped out." The sickening feeling that sat at the pit of my stomach made me nauseous.

What if the killer was just here? How long were they here? Why? I just couldn't process how someone could go through with this. It was like something out of novel.

Once we were dismissed by the officers we made our way through the woods and back to our cars. Lucy climbed into her's. "Do you want to go do something else?" I was still shaken up "Maybe another time. Right now I just want to go get food and head home." She nodded understanding. I stood there for a moment feeling a pair of eyes on me. I looked around for a second gripping my pepper spray in my hands. Quickly I climbed into my car and peeled away.

Fear filled the air. I stood at the edge of the woods with Jackson as the cops came pulling up. This wasn't good. This could be the discovery of our kind by the human race if we didn't watch ourselves. Jackson looked over to me as I watched Opal look in our direction, before she peeled off. "Mag, what are we going to do? You know the rules." I looked over at Jackson with a stern voice "they don't know though. The pigs did enough damage to the bodies already." He growled in anger. "You better hope they don't, because I would hate to be the one to have to break your heart by taking her out." He turned and started to walk away as I watch Opal's tail lights fade into the distances.

It's been about a week since the hiking trip that went wrong. The bodies were all over the news. It turns out they belonged to two missing girls.

I was sitting at the counter at work staring off into space as Daisy came walking up to me. "Darling are you okay? You're usually a bright beautiful rainbow and right now you are dulling out." I blinked and looked up at her "I'm sorry Daisy, I'm just still shaken up." She smiled at me softly "It's okay sweetie, take your time, take it slow." She started rummaging through a bin of random jewels and found a small Opal stone. "Here sweetie, hold on to this and your rainbow will never disappear." I smiled softly as I took the new stone in my hand. "Thank you Daisy. This means a lot to me." She smiled at me as I looked down at the beautiful little stone. It brought forth some peace and made me smile. To think a little rainbow stone could do this to me. It felt great to be a rainbow again.
