Freshmen year. High School. This was all Adera was waiting for. After jus 3 more years, she would be on her own, free as a bird. She was excited for the first day of school. She planned out her outfit perfectly and even prayed the night before. The first day of school went great. Adera had made a couple of new friends and guy friends and loved most of her teachers. Adera thought to herself,  "I can tell this is going to be a great year." And she was right for the most part. She was in very minimal drama and absolutely loved herself. Confidence was high, depression was low, everything was great. Two months after school started, October 11th finally rolled around. It was Adera's birthday. She was turning 15 that year. She was super excited. She was growing up. Soon she would be able to start driving and eventually getting her permit. She was an october baby which is why she was 15 in the 9th grade. But Adera didn't mind. She didn't want to grow up that fast. During the middle of her freshmen year, Adera met these two girls. Sienna and Jayla. Sienna was Mexican and Jayla was Japanese. These two girls would stick around for a long time in Adera's life but she wouldn't know that yet. It was almost everyday after school they would meet up at the Mcdonald's that was right across from their school. Adera slowly became close with these girls and developed a friendship type of love for them. Sarah was happy Adera was starting to gain more friends. Especially friends that were people of color and had some decorum. A little down the line, Adera met this one boy, his name was Samuel. The first interaction Samuel and Adela had was very interesting, but she soon later learned to love him like a brother. Samuel was her best friend and made ninth grade super fun. She actually met him through her friend Jayla. Jayla and Samuel started dating for a hot minute. They were together almost all the time and were truly in love. They ended up falling out of love and breaking up with each other because the spark just wasn't there anymore. Samuel became super depressed and Jayla moved on surprisingly quickly to boy named Thomas. Thomas was a hooper , tall, and black. Thomas and Jayla started talking and then started dating shortly after. Samuel was depressed. What did Thomas have that Samuel didn't? Anyways, even though Samuel was Jayla's ex, Adera continued to be friends with both Jayla and Samuel. Everything was fine, no drama, no bullshit.  Of course the seasonal depression started to hit again, and she started to fall again, but she picked herself right up and got into it. Fast forward, it was around December 2021, Adera started to gain feelings for this boy named Lyle. Lyle was very much on the down low, known but not known. Adera never knew why she liked him, but she thought he was fine as fuck for a long time and tried to get his attention for a long time. It was a waste of time though. He was actually friends with Samuel since they were both on the football team. Long story short, Adera and Lyle didn't work out. They never dated, they just were another character in Adera's life that were used as a lesson. Fast forward to Mid March, Adera's school was hosting a Spring Dance and wanted Sarah to come along as well. Long story short, Adera and Sarah got in a lot of trouble for forging Sarah's father's signature and lying about Sarah's age. Sarah was 13 in the eighth grade so she wasn't eligible to attend a high school event. Adera didn't get in any trouble but Sarah did and their parents expected them to hate each other, but the situation just made them even closer. If one goes down then the other goes down with her. That was her ride or die. Adera ended up attending the dance with Jayla only because Sienna was feeling insecure and didn't  want to go. At the end of the night, Adera had made this instagram post that would later bring so much attention to her it was going to drive her crazy.
It wasn't what she posted on insta it was what was going on i the comments. Long story short, someone had tagged Lyle in a comment, exposing Adera and her feelings for Lyle. Adera was upset but not as shocked as she was. The whole dilemma blew over soon but that whole situation really exposed Adera and her business and she didn't know how to feel about that. Just like that, freshmen year was over. She was shocked at how fast freshmen year had went and wondered how fast the rest would go by. She loved every second of it and cherished all the people who she met along the way.
