Chapter-3

Wills POV

I woke to nothing but silence an empty house with no one to be seen after rethinking life for the hundredth time this month I got up to change and like every day, I got ready for my walk around the abounded town

I put my knife in my pocket and decided to not wear a jacket today but just a blue and black striped long-sleeve and black jeans I decided to leave my hair out to see if I want to cut it again I slipped my shoes on and grabbed my little bag that had pencils and a sketchbook in it it's a hobby I picked up around when I first got here I checked to make sure everything was in the bag before starting my walk only when I was a good mile away from the little abounded house I called my own was when I remembered the events from yesterday

And immediately regretted my decision to come outside but it was too late now I'm already a good distance from the little house and I could already feel a presence behind me I kept trying to convince my mind it was a crawler and that they wouldn't come back here but then "Will? Is... Is that really you?" it was a new voice almost a whisper but you could hear the person clearly they sounded like they were in tears and then I decided to just get it over with and turn around

Dustin's POV

I took a deep breath preparing myself for when Steve picks me up and drops me off at the byers today I and Nancy decided to tell them about how will doesn't remember us we wanted to give them a day to be happy with the news instead of just springing both on them because we both know that there all going to want to go see will but we can't have that there going to scare him

Nancy called me last night and we decided since I told the good news she'd tell them the bad I heard a honk from outside and looked out my window and saw Steve's car I yelled goodbye to my mom before I took a deep breath and walked out the door to the car

When we pulled up to the wheeler house to get Nancy and Mike I mentally screamed after realizing we already picked everyone up and that was our last stop before we drove to the byers house

As the byers house came into view I started to feel bad about telling them the good news and waiting to tell the bad because I know how much Mrs. Byers was looking forward to seeing her son again after 4 years but when she finds out he doesn't remember her I can already see her expression the expression we saw when the police pulled that fake body out of the river and she had to tell his 12-year-old best friends that their best friend her son was dead I took a deep breath and decided to just think about the good time like when she found out he was alive she smiled so hard that day but not as big as she did yesterday when she found out she would be seeing him again

Steve pulled onto the byers lawn and just like yesterday Mrs. Byers was sitting on the porch waiting for us I jumped out of the car first to get everyone ready for the bad news soon they all followed in after me Jonathan took off work for a couple of days hoping one of those days he'd get to go see his brother

When everyone was sitting or standing somewhere just like yesterday me and Nancy pulled two chairs up in front of them Nancy took a deep breath "I don't know how to say this so I'm just going to rip it off like a bandaid" she took another deep breath "Will doesn't he doesn't remember us" She finally said mike got upset again Lucas looked shocked Mrs. Byers kept her small smile on her face Jonathan tried not to show his hurt but it was obvious

Mrs. Byers spoke up "It doesn't matter if he doesn't remember me as long as I get to see him again that's fine with me" she smiled again and my heart shattered I walked over to comfort her because out of all of us when he went missing it hit her the worse I mean she lost her child and she won't even get to see him today

After the room was calmed me and Nancy grabbed Lucas and mike it would just be us 4 today max and jane are staying because they don't know Will and they said they don't think he'd want them there we tried to tell them it was nonsense but they just felt he wouldn't want them there at the moment

We got in steves car and started our way to eddies trailer when we got inside mike immediately threw himself in the portal Nancy followed I stayed to talk to Lucas because he looked nervous plus I wasn't really over what happened yesterday I comforted him and told him everything would be ok and he thanked me and climbed threw the portal I took a minute to breathe again before I climbed threw the portal myself

Will's POV

I turned around and was met with two people I found familiar but I never met before one more than the other my conscience screamed to hug the one that for some reason was the most familiar but I blocked it out "Will?"
I turned to one of the boys that were talking to me "I'm Mike and that's Lucas" the boy Mike said as soon as I was told their names my conscience screamed for me to hug Lucas he was the most familiar for some reason I felt that Mike should be the most familiar but he wasn't and within seconds my conscience won I hugged Lucas he was in shock but hugged back he looked like he needed the hug so he should be happy my conscience won today

Mike looked hurt that I hugged Lucas instead of him and something didn't want me to make these people sad but I still refused to feel bad when I'd never met these people before I don't even know why I hugged this Lucas guy

After that, I decided I had socialized with the weird new people enough today" Leave go home," I said walking away from them "Will wait," the mike guy said I didn't even turn I just kept walking until they weren't in my sight anymore I stopped to sit on a bench and pulled out my sketchbook and drew a picture of the new people and things I had seen in the past 2 days its been a while since I'd seen other things than walkers and crawlers vines and slugs everywhere in this place you rarely see anything new

After sitting there for almost 5 hours I started my walk back to the old house to finish my day and start it all over again the next

Mikes POV

Will continued to walk as I called for him it hurts to see your best friend not remember you and have to watch them hug and find someone else familiar when you knew him longer when will walked over to Lucas the last thing I thought was he was going to hug him when he wrapped his hands around Lucas even when he stared at the both of us like we were strangers it hurt so bad to watch it was like jane threw me across the room and crushed my heart in my chest

Lucas snapped me out of my trans when he snapped his fingers in my face and shook my shoulders "You ok mike?" he said "Yeah yeah I'm ok it's just when he hugged you it shocked me," I said "Mike I can practically hear your thoughts I know it's hard but he was my best friend too even if you knew him longer he was my best friend too, of course, you have a right to be upset but you act like I'm a stranger to him or we've never met before if he saw me more familiar or missed me I don't know it's not like we weren't close to you weren't the only one close to will mike," he said and he was right I wasn't the only one close to him but it still hurts and it still hurt to see him hug someone he didn't know that we'll I don't care if it sounds selfish he was my friend first and it wasn't fare, Dustin found him and it wasn't fair he hugged Lucas when he knew me first and I was right there

"Mike.. if I have offended you in any way with what I said I'm sorry but it was the right thing to say you weren't the only one close to him we all were shattered when he went missing we all cried when we were told he was dead we all cried when we found out he was alive and we all cried when we found out we would see him again not just you, so stop being a fucking selfish, ass, I can already read your thoughts about the situation if he saw me more familiar or even if he somehow missed me again he wasn't just your best friend he was all of, are's," Lucas said he gave me one last look before he walked away from me I followed close behind him thinking of a way to apologize

When we got back to the trailer Dustin asked if we had seen will Lucas told him what happened but left out our argument and Dustin was shocked to learn that will hugged Lucas but instead of getting jealous he smiled and told us it looked like Will had found someone he could recognize as a friend

After telling Nancy we made our way back home we told Mrs. Byers about will and she smiled you could see she couldn't wait to see her son again after that we made our way to Steves's car and he dropped us all home

Hello I know it comes as a shocker to see will see Lucas more familiar than mike but I wanted to change it up instead of like all stories when will get attached to mike instead he gets attached to Lucas because I think their friendship is so overlooked and underrated but Will gets attached to Lucas and everyone's fine with it but mike(:
