"(Y/N)..." A voice whispers, your hair being gently stroked. You flutter open your eyes and meet with bright blue ones. "You don't want to be late for school, now do you?" He asks you as you sit up and yawn, stretching.
"No,I guess not.." You mumble as you rub your eyes. You swing your legs over the edge of your torn up bed and walk over to get your clothes. Jack goes back in his box politely, leaving you privacy. You get dressed into a black top with white polka dots and long jeans to hide your bruises. You tie your hair back on a ponytail before splashing water up in your face.
Jack picks you up and spins you around making you giggle and laugh, squealing his name.
"Jack!I gotta catch the bus!" You laugh.
"Okay, okay... I guess we can play later!" He grins, putting you down gently. You glance at the clock before grabbing up your book bag and sprinting out of the house, not wanting to catch mom in one of her spells.
"(Y/N)!!" A voice screams. You swing around, eyes wide. Your mother stomps over to you with a crumbling paper sound. "Don't forget your lunch again or I'll be making a knuckle sandwich next time." She growls, not wanting the other kids to hear. You quickly nod and run off to he other kids.
"Hey (Nickname)!" A familiar voice grins.
"Hi Sally.." You mumble, still thinking about mother.
"I think you should tell someone other than me. If she's really what you told me she is..then you have to follow the rules that the teachers tell us." Sally says, knowing exactly what's going on. She has been your friend for...well ever since you could talk. She knows all of your secrets. Except for Jack. You don't think it's safe yet. He was sent by a star after all. No one would believe you. Probably not even Sally.
The bus soon arrives and off to school you went.
----------------While your doing your work, the classroom started to get hot and you had to roll your sleeves up to keep from sweating to death.
"(Y/N)..." The teacher whispers, crouching in front of your desk. You slowly looking over at her, hiding behind your curtain of hair. "Where did you get all of these brusises at?" She asks running her hand gently over your arm.
"I fell....," You start, trying to think of a reasonable answer. "Down the stairs." You finish. That wasn't a complete lie. You did fall down the stairs, but it wasn't an accident. The teacher just nods and says something along the lines of 'just worried'.
-------------
You dash up the stairs through the house, not wanting to be caught.
"Come back here you little shit!" Your mother screams. You quickly run into your room and lock the door.
"Jackie..." You whimper. The box opens and the familiar colorful figure pops out with a huge grin. It that fro quickly fades when he sees your expression.
"Aw, love..what happened?" He whispers, crouching down to your level.
"Shes doing it again, Jack.." You whimper, hugging him tightly. "She drank the mommy juice and then started to get angry at me." You sniffle.
"Did she hurt you?" He asks as he's petting your hair.
"N-Not really." You mumble.
"Its not safe here..I'll bring you to the playpen over night, okay?" He asks.
"I can be a queen?" You ask hopefully.
"You can be anything you want." He smiles softly.
"Do you think I could have a nice mommy?" You ask, smiling a little.
"Only if believe you can. Imagination is the weapon against the cruel world." He whispers as you giggle and nod.
That night you slept in a castle. Peacefully and sound. You weren't a queen this time, but a princess. Jack was your play father and your mom as a loving and nice queen.
For the first time
You were at peace.
