I think it was the middle of the night when I felt San shake me awake. I didn't really know the time. I went to reach for my phone but ended up knocking it to the floor as Hank ran in.
"C'mon guys. We have to hurry." He said and ran out again.
"What's going on?" I asked San as I quickly chucked on my jeans and maroon top.
"He attacked the hospital. He might still be inside."
"Med?" I asked a I picked up my speed.
"Yeah. Will texted us from the elevator. He said he's hiding in there with three children. Peter and his men might still be in there."
She handed me some black tactical gear as well as a bigger gun.
"Hurry up!" Shouted someone.
I recognised the voice but I couldn't put a face or name to it.
When we got downstairs, we all looked identical. We were dressed in fully black gear with a thicker vest on that had plenty of compartments. We were all handed a torch that we put in one of the compartments as well as a few smoke grenades.
"Everyone's guns work." Said that voice.
"Halstead, Santos and Burgess, you are responsible for getting any children out. You are to get them out from floor five, six and seven. Then lead them out of this door." Said the guy as he pointed at some blueprints.
I just stared at him and he sent me a small smile.
"Yes, Jay. You know me. I spoke to you in the helicopter."
"Right." I nodded and looked over the blue prints.
"You are to take them through this exit here." He said and pointed at an exit sign.
"Atwater, Voight and Derrick. You'll be in charge of floor nine, ten and eleven. They are older people." Said Sargent Thompson, head of the rangers unit we were working with.
We were working with his team that were retired and did small missions for the police and helped out as aid for countries that have experienced natural disasters.
Thompson's team consisted of four men: Derrick, Henry, Calvin and Anderson. That was what they were known as. I don't know if it was there first names or last names.
"Derrick, Henry, Calvin, and Anderson will search the ground floor as well as second and third. We each have three floors. Sammy, Adam and I will take the fourth, eighth and ER." Explained Thompson.
As soon as we left the house, we were in the right head space. We had blocked out all feelings off family and how people might be feeling and were ready to get everyone out.
*No One's Pov*
Jay, San and Kim went in first and took the east stairs up to the fifth floor. All lights were switched off in the building apart from some of the occasional back up generator ones.
They were dressed in fully black clothing and had night visions goggles to see and keep them hidden.
When they reached the first door, San crept in first and took one guy out with a single punch. Some guy ran up behind San and went to stab her in the back but Kim picked up a bedpan and smacked him with it before quickly dropping it.
"Jeez, Kim. We are supposed to be quiet." Whispered San as she kept her weapon raised.
"Sorry. It was a used bedpan. Do you want me to wipe some old person's pee on you?"
"Not really." Said Jay.
"Then shut up and keep moving."
They only made it so far before San put her hand up to tell them to stop. They checked every single room on floor five including storage rooms but found nothing. They made their way to floor six but stopped when they heard voices coming from the hall.
"They are in the building boss." Said George into his radio.
"That's good. Keep 'em there." Said Peter.
Kim and Jay stepped out at the same time as San kept watch from behind. They hit George and some other guy over the head with their guns before proceeding to search the floor.
"Something seems off." Said Kim as they looked in the last room, which was empty again.
"Yeah, I feel it too." Said Jay.
Sammy and Thompson started in the ER first and were hoping to find some patients but all they found was a child stood in the middle of it.
"Hey, are you okay?" Whispered Thompson as he crouched down to be level with the little boy.
"They are through there." He said as he pointed to a door.
"Who are?" Asked Adam.
"The nurses. They are tied up. There is a bomb in the corner of the room. You have five minutes." Said the boy before he walked off but Sammy grabbed him before he made it to far.
The boy looked at Sammy's hand before looking at his face. Sammy gave the kid a small smile but the boy flashed him back a sinister one as he stabbed him in the leg.
"Ow. That kid is pure evil." Said Sammy.
"We have to get them out of here. Can you walk?" Asked Thompson.
"Sure. Let's go." Replied Sammy as they both walked into the room to see nurses tied together in a circle.
"The man went that way. He says he has something big planned. We are the only ones here."
"No. That's not true. We got a text telling us to get here quickly. The place is really full."
"He has all of our phones."
Hank, Kevin and Antonio had just reached the ninth floor when a bomb exploded and a fog of dust and smoke darted out of a corner and hit the guys. They were thrown backwards into the wall and Antonio's back hit a pillar.
"You guys okay?" Asked Will as he bent down to help them up.
"What...are you doing here? On this floor?" Asked Hank.
"There was a shift change. I left my phone here and came back to get it as the doctors were swapping around. Thre is only first shift nurses in here. There are no civilians here either. Our generator went out first so we gave most our patients off to Chicago City hospital."
"Most? Where's the rest?" Coughed Antonio.
"I don't know. I'm the only one up here. I hid when the guys came up."
Henry, Calvin, Anderson and Derrick were searching their assigned floor when plenty of shots went off. They each took their positions behind separate pillars and joined in with the gun fight. They were progressing quicker and were getting closer to the men but soon everything slowed down.
The guys turned their faces away from the big ball of balzing fire before they were hurtled backwards. They were out cold and the hospital was on fire.
"Everyone get out! Now!" Shouted Thompson as he ran out with Sammy and Adam as well as the nurses.
Luckily, the fire crew had arrived but it would take some time until they could get into the building because they didn't know what possible threats they were facing.
People started to drag Thompson's team out and got them over to the Paramedics.
Adam gripped the back of his head as he stared up at the building before Sammy pulled him away as an explosion went off and the windows shattered.
"No! Kim!" Cried Adam as Sammy wrestled with him to keep him outside and safe.
"Hey. Hey! We can not go in there. It is too dangerous." Said Sammy as he thought about San and how he was leaving her.
"Hey, come over here. We'll get you checked out." Said some young Paramedic as she led them over to an ambulance.
The two got in and were immediately knocked out with a cloth over their mouths. There bodies went limp against the floor as the driver sped off and headed towards the outskirts of Chicago.
