Principal Weems clapped to get everyone's attention as they sat on the bleachers in front of the new statue in town "All students will report for their volunteer jobs at 10:00 a.m. sharp, followed by a community lunch at 1:00" Weems cheered before looking over to the mayor."As you know, this year Outreach Day culminates in a very special event, the dedication of a new memorial statue in the town square, which will also include performances by Nevermore students" mayor Walker said with a smile plastered on his face.
Everyone was excited and giggling as principal Weems continued talking to the teens "As representatives of our school, I trust you will all put your best face forward" students smiled as their envelops were passed to them and they tore them open to see what their assignment was.
"Yeah!"
"Yes! Yes! I got Pilgrim World. I have natural people skills and a love of performing, so it's kind of the obvi choice. What'd you two get?" Enid asked Wednesday and Sybil who was released a few hours ago but had to be under watchful eyes as she was the only survivor of the on going case.
"Uriah's Heap, whatever that is" Wednesday said in a bored tone mixed with confusion.
Sybil pulled open her envelope and saw she was working at the coffee shop, "I got the coffee shop" she said softly as she kept her face blank.
"Ew. It's this weird, creepy antique store. You'll love it though. I'm crossing my claws Ajax and I will be outreaching together. And it nice to know you'll be inside all day we're people can always see you!" Enid said softly knowing it was hard on the girl with everyone hovering around her.
"Oh my God, I got the Weathervane. Dude, trade with me. Come on, trade with me!" Two boys said as they walked by the girls.
Enid and Sybil walked away from Wednesday as they saw principal Weems walking their way, Enid and Sybil stopped before the coffee shop.
Enid looked over to the girl slightly before looking back to her feet but only to look back to the girl who caught her gaze this time, "do- do you remember anything from that night?" Enid said softly not wanting to bother the girl with her questions.
Sybil stiffened more, "all I remember is my dream. I-I don't know how I got to the woods or anything but all I know is that what happened in my dream was a version of what happened" Sybil said as she hugged herself before walking over to Wednesday.
"Please. I'm just cannon fodder in whatever cold war you're waging with Bianca. I have more pressing issues" Wednesday stated as she looked to her cousin who stopped a few feet away from them to give them their privacy.
"Like what?" Xavier asked as he crossed his arms over his chest but kept glancing at the witch girl like she would disappear again.
"Tracking down the monster that killed your roommate and nearly killed my cousin" Wednesday said as she slightly looked back at her cousin who still looked visibly shaken up.
