Chapter 14

"Laura wants to cook for us tonight." She says as I walk into her office returning the phone to the receiver.

"Oh really? Does she even cook?" I ask, distributing food.

"Cook is a very strong word. I would say she warms things though." She laughs under her breath. Grabbing a taco and some salsa before passing one to me.

"So we should expect-"

"Well you should expect her to ask you some important questions and flirt with you in the most obscene way possible." She interrupts.

"So kinda like you then?" I chuckle. She was all speed when we first met. Hell, she's all speed now.

"I was far more smooth dear."

"Well, you kinda just asked me If I wanted to be your submissive. Then you had about a billion questions on how I liked to b-"

"Do not dare finish that sentence." I shrugged, a small smile on my face.

"Anyway," I fix up my taco. "Will these questions have anything to do with 'doing it your way'"?

"It has everything to do with it. Laura is a very impulsive woman and she hates waiting." She sprinkles her onions and cilantro before taking a bite.

The food starts to taste odd, like stress and anxiety. This relationship with Joanna and I is possibly the best thing to ever happening to me. Would it be wrong of me to want to hold onto that? I didn't go without much growing up, but all I really wanted was parents that paid attention to me too. Getting that same attention from Joanna means everything to me.

"What if I'm not ready for what she wants though?" I practically whisper.

"Then we will not do it. It is very simple darling. We both believe in enthusiastic consent. Though she gets ahead of herself sometimes, she would never try to do anything without you wanting it."

"We'll still have dinner tonight though?"

"Yes, if you want to. We do not have to." She offers a small smile as if sensing my trepidation.

"Okay." I reply taking another bite.

"Okay?" She questions.

"Yea. I mean you said I don't have to do anything I don't want to. So I can always say no right?"

"Absolutley, love." She smiles.

"Could we order take out instead, though?"

"How about we finish this meal before moving to the next meal." She chuckled.

--

"Carter! I'm glad you're here."

Her energy was certainly infectious. But why mess with a good thing, right?

"You don't look very excited, though. You're not excited?"

I look to Joanna for what to say.

"She is feeling some anxiety about dinner." She says for me.

"You don't want to do it tonight?"

I open my mouth to reply, but Joanna stops me.

"That is not what I said, calm down." Laura pouts, her eyebrows furrowing confused.

"She wants to, that is why we are here. She is just a litte anxious."

"How do I fix it? What do you need hermosa?" She asks concerned.

"Laura." Joanna's voice changed from compliable and willing to help to 'listen dammit'. Laura continued looking at me, trying to read me while I tried looking anywhere but her eyes.
