The first thing to greet Danny was a heavy set of clouds and the looming scent of rain. Mondays were nobodies things but Danny hated them especially so. The sharp calls of his alarm clock, the cold nip at his skin, and the banging on his door were sounds Danny would hear on repeat in hell.
"Danny! Wake up we have less than thirty minutes to get to school," Jazz pounded on Danny's door till he loudly groaned at her. She gave a few more pounds before letting an annoyed second groan answer her question. Danny was up, and against his will, he was awake.
Danny's older sister was the star child, with her signature red hair, bright mind, perfect grades, and a full ride scholarship to Yale. But that was never enough for Jazz, she had to be perfect at everything, even waking up. She woke up at five AM sharp every morning, did a workout routine, did her skincare routine, makeup, and then pulled out one of her many meal-planned breakfast containers of berries, oats, and yogurt.
Meanwhile Danny fumbled through his routine of his morning shit, then he examined his chin for any new hairs, gave his jeans the smell check, and ate whatever wasn't glowing in his family's retro styled fridge.
"GOOD MORNING CHILDREN!" The yelling rocked through Danny's ears like a nuke. "How are we doing today!?" Jack Fenton, the father of the Fenton family and village idiot, squeaked and banged his way into the puked colored kitchen. His neon hazmat suit clanked with various metal tools and a metal box labeled Jack's snacks that hung around his waist.
"I am doing great! I just finished my level three online yoga class this morning," Jazz said.
"That's great sweetie! And what about you champ?"
"I wish I was dead." Danny groaned
"You can't die yet son! Your mother and I havent found a way to track where your soul goes yet!" Danny just nodded along to his fathers usual nonsense.
"Where is mom?" Jazz asked,
"Oh she's downstairs, your mom and I have been working on a new ecto-weapon that will blow the socks of those elites at the university,"
"Ah greeaaatt," Jazz said, before she shoved a spoonful of oats and berries down her throat.
"Jack! Where is the seven millimeter wrench?" Their mom yelled from below.
"It's to your- no my left! Ah I'll be right there sweetie!" Jack grabbed the loaf of bread and headed down the metal steps, "Have a good day at school kids!"
"Thanks Dad," Danny said. Without their father the kitchen was overtaken by the hum of the electronics. Danny grabbed a coffee and returned to his normal routine.
"Let me know when you're done. I want to get to school early to prepare for the morning announcements," Jazz said. Danny nodded. Today felt like it was going to be a long day.

Vines climbed the old bricks, shading the old worn down window stills and brick from the heat. A large clock was high on top of its head, looking down upon all the students who entered through its large oak doors. Every year during the yearly pep rally Principal Pham would mention that the school was over two-hundred years old, but honestly anyone could see that just by looking at ye old Casper High. The school could be mistaken for a private school for how it looked. Old, fancy, and intimidating. The school even had a pretentious fountain in its front courtyard. Danny groaned at the sight. His sister pulled up to her honor student spot and he was out, his feet leading him to the gaggle of football players sitting around one of the many oak trees and iron benches that were around the fountain.
