Friday was a welcome retreat. Dash and Paulina took no time in spreading his lie all over the school. Brain started hiding ghost pictures he found off the internet in places where Danny could find them, like the boys locker room, and his locker, and in his sport's bag, and he found one image of a smiling dog in his world history text book., He made a big show of ripping them up, before hastily throwing the scraps into the nearest trash can. Even Kwan got in on the joke, bringing a scream mask to school and chasing him around the front lawn. It was past annoying and into pissed territory, but if he kept it up, Manson would forget about him and his ghost powers.

Walking down the stairs there was an odd thud to his right, he tried to ignore it, keeping his eyes forward but then a second thud came, and a third and at the fourth he turned his head to look behind. Less than an inch behind him was blood. Danny jumped down the stairs prepared to blast the monster, when it erupted in laughter.

"I swear to fucking God Brian!" Danny yelled, before he chased his teammate back up the stairs. Brian tripped over the dollar store kool-aid covered bed sheets and stumbled away. Danny quickly caught up to him and yanked the bed sheets off. Brian fell over laughing.

"You should have seen the look on your face!"

"And we'll see the look on your face when I make you do lunges up and down the field tonight," Danny threw the stupid costume on the ground.

"Wait Cap'!" Brain begged for mercy.

Danny stomped away, his face burning with rage and embarrassment. Several students hid their snickering faces from him. A few gave him pity glances. Danny scowled and ran down the halls to the cafeteria. There several students were gathered around the school's cork board. On it was a new poster. The poster was a deep red with white cursive font over a low grainy image of a ballroom. " Amity Park Halloween Masquerade ball" it read, "All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to renovating the old Master's mansion! . The ticket price was $15 for teenagers and adults, and $10 for children. In the lower right hand corner a sticky note has been hastily stuck on to the bottom of the poster, reading "All the money will now go to rebuilding the mansion!"

"Ooh! A ball! It's just like that book I was reading," Paulina said. Her white turtleneck hugged her body like a glove and Danny had to look away.

"The one with the werewolf or the vampire one?" Star asked.

"The fairy one. Where the cursed prince takes the leading lady into a ball and they dance the night away." Paulina sighed. "I wonder who will take me to the ball?"

"I'm sure any guy here would be lucky to have you,"

"That's true," Paulina said, her eyes wandering towards Danny.

Danny gulped. He would love to take her to the ball, she would look like the queen of them all there. But the butterflies in his stomach made him nervous.

"Yo what's this?" Dash said, walking over to read the poster.

"It's a charity ball for the old mansion? Is it a mansion ro a house?" Danny said.

"Well it is technically a mansion but only by the standards of the 1800's. By today's standards, it's just a large Victorian house," Star said.

"God Star, how do you know these things?" Dash asked.

"Well one of us has to be the bumb blond and it can't be me."

"Are you saying I'm dumb?"

"Well if the shoe fits!"
