We arrived outside of a huge apartment building, just outside the city. There was at least 20 levels, and each balcony looked stunning. I must have been inspecting the building for a while, because the stranger had gotten out of the car and was tapping on my window. "Come on, let's go in." he said, sounding very muffled through the glass. So as instructed, I got out of the car, and followed him inside.
We walked towards an elevator, and he put in 23 as the floor number. The doors closed, and within seconds we reached his floor. He turned left down the hallway and stopped in front of door number 217. The man got out a key and unlocked the door, allowing me to enter. "My name's Chris. You are?" Chris said, gesturing me to sit down. "James" I answered. "Nice to meet you James. I know we just met but do you want to tell me why you were lying in an alley way?" He said, looking at me sympathetically. I might as well tell him. He was kind enough to take me into his home.
"Well," I started. "There is this guy." I could already feel a tear rolling down my face. "What did this guy do?" Chris said, looking a bit worried.
"He was new, we met not long ago. I thought he looked beautiful. And he sat next to me, which was surprising, because no one ever does." I began to sob. Chris put his arm around me, making me feel more comfortable. "You don't have to tell me all of it now. If you don't want to?" Chris questioned, whilst rubbing my back. "Thank you." I replied. He took me in for a hug and I nuzzled my face into his neck, taking in his scent. He smelt like mint and lemons. It was quite lovely.
I released myself from his embrace, Chris giving me a confused look. "Why are you helping me?" I asked, looking up at him. "I remember when I was lying in that same alley. Boy I wished someone would have helped me out. So when I saw you, I decided to help." He looked down at me, and smiled. "You should change out of those clothes." He said. "I don't have anything to change into." I replied, and he let out a small giggle. "You can use some of my clothes." He got up and walked down a hallway, only to return within a few minutes.
"Here." He handed me some black skinny jeans and a blue flannel shirt. "Thank you. Now where can I get changed?" I asked, looking around the room. Chris gestured to a door to my left, so I went in. I changed out of my soggy clothes, and put them in a wash basket. I then slipped on the jeans and buttoned up the shirt, and left the room, fixing my hair on the way out.
Chris was in the kitchen area, preparing something that smelt a lot like pancakes. "Are you making pancakes?" I asked walking over to get a look. "Yeah I am. I figured you would be hungry." I nodded. I hadn't realised how hungry I was until now. "Thanks. I love pancakes." Chris smiled. "Good to know." And he turned back to the stove.
