Elena sighed. She was standing in front of the door to his room, which was cracked slightly in case she wanted to talk. She was trying to be brave about this, but courage was hard to find for her in a situation like this, and she was just too nervous. Her whole entire body was shaking with anxiety and her heart rate was off the scale. She was just about to push the door open when she heard a noise from inside the . She quickly ran from the door and darted around the nearest corner. Hesitantly, she peeked out from behind it, only to see Tirion exit the room. She gasped before covering her mouth and tried to find a place to hide, she was out in the open and vulnerable! His footsteps nearly made her lose her balance. He was so intimidating from this angle that she almost wanted to cry.She soon found a small spot between a wall and a bookshelf nearby that she would be able to hide behind. She waited until she was sure he was out of sight before sprinting over to the bookshelf and quickly hiding behind it. She was astonished that she hadn't been seen, unless she was, and he just didn't jump at the chance for contact. Nonetheless, the tremors in the ground soon started up again as he walked past the bookshelf and back into his room.
Come on Elena! You can do this! she told herself. She took a deep breath and slowly emerged from her hiding space before walking back over to the room. Hesitantly, she pushed the large wooden door until she could fit through it. Trying to think positive, she courageously walked across the room and found Tirion sitting on his bed reading a book. She quickly hid under the bed, just seeing his immense size was too much! She mentally smacked herself for being so scared.
She eventually stepped out from under the bed slowly. She tried to speak, but she couldn't find her voice. She sighed. Why is this so hard...? she asked herself.
There was no doubt that he knew she was there, she had made it too obvious. She sighed, looking up at him. He seemed calm despite the earlier events.
"T-T-Tirion...?" she said, finding her voice after a few more moments of uncomfortable silence.
Tirion looked away from his book and glanced at her, smiling softly. "So you decided to come out?" he asked, not making any other movements. He didn't want to scare her off.
"Ye-yes..." she said, jumping at the sound of his voice before taking a few steps back. The fear she had for him was still fairly evident if not through the fact that her entire body was shaking, then the fact that her voice was shaking as well.
He sighed. He knew she was pushing herself far too much to make herself less afraid of him. "I'm sorry, I did not mean to startle you..." he said in a sad voice. "You're trying to be brave, I know, but I can tell that you're terrified of me..."
She lowered her head. Great, now I'm only making him feel bad. She sighed; this was going a lot worse than she had anticipated. "I-I'm n-no-not try-trying to m-make you f-feel b-bad..." she said.
He put a hand to his face, sighing deeply. "You're so scared that you can't talk without stuttering..." he said quietly. He was glad that there was contact being established between the two, but he didn't want there to be if she wasn't ready.
"I... um..." she wanted to tell him that she wasn't afraid, but she couldn't do it. She couldn't lie to make him feel better. Well, isn't this off to a great start... she thought.
"It's alright... I'm glad that you came out." He said.
The more he talked, the more she was re-shaping her opinion on him. His voice sounded genuine, sincere, and trustworthy. He didn't sound scary, but he still frightened her.
"S-so a-am I..." she said. "I d-didn't w-want t-t-to hide f-fr-from you f-forever..."
He smiled gently at her. He knew she wanted to be brave, and she was trying so hard. "I understand. I just wanted to know why you're so afraid... You came right out in the woods... I was just afraid that I had done something wrong."
"T-to be honest, I-I don't ev-even kn-know wh-why I c-came out so easily... Maybe I-I was t-trying t-to f-find a s-safe place to b-be... M-maybe I'm j-just scared b-because..." she trailed off, trying to find other reasons that would explain why she was behaving this way.
He tilted his head. "Could it just be from the size difference?" he asked, trying to help her understand.
"Maybe i-it's just fr-from bad th-thoughts..." she said.
"Well, whatever it's from, I'm just glad you're trying to push the fear away." He said.
"I guess I just needed time..." she said, her voice finally sounding less shaky.
He nodded, smiling at the fact that she was slowly becoming more comfortable with him.
"Well, you're certainly doing better now..." he said.
"I am, aren't I?" she said, smiling proudly. Her voice still had a hint of uneasiness, but she figured that that too would go away as she went along.
Tirion decided to take a big risk. "Do you need anything little one?" he asked, "Food, rest?"
"W-well... I am kinda hungry..." she said.
"Alright, well, anything in particular you want?" he asked.
"Nah..." she said.
"Alright, well if you're sure." He said.
"I'm sure."
He nodded. "Ok. Do you feel comfortable with letting me hold you?" he asked gently. He wanted to be sure he had her permission before picking her up.
She sighed. It's got to happen sooner or later... She thought. Hesitantly, she nodded. "Yes."
Just as she said it, he felt as if the biggest burden he was carrying was being lifted off of him. "Alright, I'm going to be moving around, so if I'm startling you, let me know, please." He said.
He sighed, bracing himself in case he saw her jump back or hide under the bed. Slowly, he placed a bookmark in his book and placed it on the nightstand next to his bed. Sitting up, he pulled the covers off of him and turned so he was sitting on the edge of the bed. He glanced over to check on Elena. She had moved back a few steps, but she had not hidden. He smiled to himself. Standing up, he stretched for a moment before kneeling down nearby.
Elena was preparing herself for this, trying to keep the fear away from her. She had worked so hard to stay put, and she wasn't about to run away now. She sighed deeply in preparation when she saw him kneel down. It's now or never... She decided as she watched him lower one of his massive hands in front of her, palm up. She was thankful that he was giving her a choice and not just grabbing her. Slowly, she approached his hand, sighing deeply yet again.
She grabbed his thumb, which was held out for her as support, and pulled herself into his hand. Tirion watched her, his deep pure blue eyes soft as she seated herself in his palm. Slowly, he stood up, lifting her up with him. She gasped and pulled his thumb close to her.
"It's alright, I won't drop you." He said.
She nodded. "This isn't all that bad..."
