There were flowers and plants everywhere, no matter where she looked. She gasped loudly
as she stared, on her face a huge grin. She had never seen anything like this, and she was very excited.
"Whoa..." she said, unable to contain herself.
"Mmhmm, this is the garden that I've been taking care of for a while."
Tirion smiled down at Elena, glad that she liked it. He was glad that she was adjusting so well to her new life and that she was enjoying her time with him. He walked over to a chair that sat beside a glass table.
"My mother was a serious gardener; she always wanted to make sure that it was taken care of. She taught me early on and when they both died it was passed onto me to care for it.
This is where I get most of the food I have in my house. If I need any meat or anything like that I have to go out and get it."
"Wow... Amazing..." she said.
Tirion nodded and sat down in the chair, setting Elena on the table. "So, now that you've adjusted a bit to life here, do you feel comfortable here?" he asked, tilting his head.
Elena nodded immediately. "Yes I do."
"Are you happy here?"
"Yes I am."
Tirion smiled again. So she was happy staying with him. That was good. That was all he worried about. He reached down and picked up one of the flowers, a daisy, and handed it to her before picking one of his own and pulling the petals off of it.
"So, what were they like, your mother and father? If you don't want to talk about them, we don't have to," he said.
She sighed and nodded. "I'll be ok. I loved them so much. You remind me of my daddy so much. He used to hold me whenever I had a bad dream until it went away. I miss them so much." She said, her eyes brimming with tears. She quickly wiped them away before looking at him.
He was looking back down at her, and on impulse he reached over and scooped her up again.
He had to hold her, to show her that she would be ok.
"I'm so sorry..." he said. Until this point, he hadn't realized just what he meant to her, and what she lost. He wanted to be there for her, to show her that she still had someone, someone who would love her and take care of her, like the father she needed.
He brought her close to his chest, sighing softly. The breath washed over Elena, who was gripping his shirt and burying her face into it, tears soaking directly through it and onto his skin underneath.
"I'm so sorry..." he said again, his voice a quiet whisper.
"It-it's ok... I have you." She said, looking up at him. She smiled sadly, watching as the gentle giant's eyes filled with tears as well.
"You do... and I have you too. Do... do you trust me...?" he asked softly, wiping her tears away.
She sniffled a few times before nodding and nuzzling him. "Of course I do," she said.
He nodded, smiling as the tears in his eyes spilled over. Just a few days ago, this little girl he had found in the woods was terrified of him, and now she was sitting here with him, allowing him to hold her close to him.
"...I love you little one," he whispered.
"I love you too daddy..." she replied, either not noticing that she had slipped with his name or not caring. She was with him, and he was with her, and that was all that mattered to them.
Elena wasn't afraid of Tirion anymore, and Tirion finally had someone with him in his home in the woods. They had each other, and it seemed that they both found something in each other that they were missing.
They were happy.
