𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐒. After a week of miscommunication, Raya and Luke had made it official. They spent time working on their Greek trireme model, some time (a lot of time) kissing and talking and laughing about everything. Raya thought it might be awkward, but most of the Camp was just surprised they weren't already dating. They came second in the competition, only because Devon from the Ares cabin had accidently managed to set his trireme on fire — which the judges loved and Ares Cabin had made it this year's bead.
"What the Hades is a Blood Pop?" Luke squinted at the advertising at one of the stores.
The two of them had travelled to Diagon Alley — along with Loki — and were trying to find the Weasleys and Cedric so that Raya could begin her shopping.
Luke was set to be staying with Raya and her dad at the Newbrooke Manor for a week, right before she had to leave for Hogwarts. She thought it might be hard to continue their relationship over the year, but Luke and her had agreed to at least try.
"It's a blood flavored lollipop," Raya explained as she swung their entwined hands a little. "I'm pretty sure it's only meant to appeal to vampires and pregnant ladies."
"Pregnant ladies?" Luke raised a brow.
"Muggles crave pickles and mayo, witches crave blood pops," Raya shrugged.
Luke nodded slowly, accepting the fact.
"Let's head over to Flourish and Botts," Raya led him along. "Cedric should be there. And well, the Weasleys might get too caught up in stocking up on items for their new pranks that they forget to show up."
They arrived to a large crowd forming outside the doors. Cedric waved at them from near the front of the line, letting them bud him. He didn't even raise a brow at their laced fingers, merely smiled knowingly.
"What's the crowd for?" Raya asked.
"Gilderoy Lockhart's gonna be signing books today," he answered. "Most of the Defense Against the Dark Arts books for this year are his."
"Really?" Raya raised a brow. "My dad always said he was one of the worst kids in his class. He never understood how Lockhart wrote so many books. Apparently, the only class he got okay in was Charms."
"Maybe he learned more after leaving Hogwarts," Cedric shrugged.
"Maybe," Raya agreed, shrugging.
They made it inside, grabbing their books for third year.
"Why are there so many books for Defense this year?" Raya muttered, handing another one off to Luke.
He adjusted the stack of books Raya had already given him so that he could fit one more.
"I have no idea why we need so many books for a single course," Cedric agreed. "We've got a separate book for each unit. How are we supposed to study for exams?"
Raya groaned.
She paid for her books, bagging them, and snapping her fingers and calling for Rosie, her house elf.
"Can you take these back for me?" she handed the bag to her elf. "Just drop it off in my room, please."
Rosie had been the Newbrooke's house elf since Raya was seven, her mother being the house elf before her.
"Yes, Miss Newbrooke," Rosie nodded. "Are you coming home later? Rosie shall make your scones if you'd like."
"I'm alright, Rosie," Raya let her off. "I'll tell you if I want some later on."
