Where it Begins

Hibba's POV: I found myself taking in the moment while walking across the shore on a hot Friday afternoon with an ice cream sandwich in hand. There is nothing more I could ask for. I've been dealing with a lot at home recently so my friends decided to book a wild spontaneous trip to La Jolla, California. This is one of my favorite spots, I came here once with some of my other friends and realized how much I fell in love with it. It feels so good to be back, the sun on my face melting away all the awful problems I came here to escape from. I don't really like to talk about my problems but my friends always know when something is going on. I have one of those faces where I'm not good at hiding my emotions and you can take one look at me and know exactly how I feel. After going on a night drive with my friends Zoe, Yovanni, and Zaynab, I ended up breaking down and they knew they had to do something. Two days later they presented me with a plane ticket and three more for themselves. And now, here we are walking by the ocean with our ice cream in hand just living in the moment.

Because the plan was so sudden we didn't have time to come up with an itinerary. Yovanni, my crazy gay friend, is totally against going with the flow. Zoe blames it on him being a Gemini, but I know it is because he is psychotic and will go ballistic if we don't have a plan. So right as we got here we piled everything into our hotel room and Zaynab suggested that we come to where we are now. "Okay bitches! Where to next? Zoe get on Yelp and find us some shit to do" Yovanni naggingly insists. I decide to speak up and help figure out our next move, "Why don't we rent some bikes and ride over to the cave then we can eat dinner in that area too?" I smile hoping they say yes, I think it's a good plan at least. Zoe smiles and nods, "Hibba you are a genius, let's go!" Before we left the oceanside I had to get someone to take a disposable of all of us and then we were off. Yovanni bought this ghetto five-dollar speaker from a 7-11 so we can listen to his static-y indie music while riding the bikes we rented. He says we are 'living in his movie' whatever the fuck that means. We are all trying so hard not to laugh at that damn cheap speaker because we don't want to fall off our bikes. Zaynab brings up her traumatic experience of falling off a skateboard while seeing Wendy Williams and warns us to be safe rather than stupid.

I consider Zaynab to be my older sister I never had, she always looks out for me and has my back no matter what. After a mile or so we all get tired and decide to take a break and get some water. Zoe is still trying to get off her bike but she's too short so I take out my phone and Snapchat her because it's too funny not to. Finally, after a lot longer than it should've taken, we made it to the cave. I've been here once before, these stairs are so scary and steep so we have to be very careful walking down. Yovanni thinks it's funny to pretend like he's falling or try and trip us, Zaynab kicked him in the back of the kneecap and he fell down a few stairs. I think it truly humbled him. We snap a few pics, I get one on my disposable, and we continue on our journey. Once we made it out of the cave Zoe decided to buy some things at the gift shop as souvenirs and gifts for other friends. But it was kind of small in there so we decided to wait outside and have a photo shoot while she shopped.

Zoe's POV: I promised Liv I would get her something while I am here, she was upset she wasn't invited but this trip is strictly for Hibba's mental health and to get our minds off of things. I'm looking around this gift shop trying to decide between a shell bracelet or a shot glass. I decide the bracelet is more meaningful so I go to put the shot glass back and run into someone. He's cute, and tall, just your average Californian white male. He looks down at me and smiles, "Putting down the shot glass? You look like you know how to have a good time, I'm surprised." I'm confused but I laugh and say, "maybe every now and then" as I shrug trying to understand what he wants. He holds his hand out, "give me your phone" so I pass it over to him praying he doesn't make a run for it and steal it because he is some random stranger. He ended up putting in his contact info and texts himself then winks and walks away. How bizarre.
