Once upon a time there was a man who could see the clocks. But, our story begins with the "man" being a baby so let me try again:Once upon a time a young woman stared down at her newborn son. She smiled nicely but her eyes were hinted with a touch of fear. Her young husband sat at the end of her hospitable bed, with his hand on his wife's leg covered by the tight sheets. His eyes were full of joy and hope, that was because he didn't know.
"Um. Sir?" an older nurse asked poking her head into the doorway, "can you fill out these forms?" The young man, Thomas Geller, turned from his wife, Maria Geller, and newborn son. "Oh! I forgot to ask. What is the boy's name?" The nurse asked.
"Grayson, Grayson Geller. After his late grandfather." Answered Maria. The nurse nodded approvingly as she left, Thomas trailing behind her. "Can you see them?" Maria asked her son, aware he would not respond. "Can you see the clocks?" Although she didn't know it, when her son looked up at her he saw everything including a clock floating above her head. It showed the time but it also showed years, days, hours, minutes, and second. All of which were counting down, slowly. He wouldn't understand what it meant for many years to come.
