Adelina Engel is a Pixie. Pixies are very uncommon in North America, they mainly reside far up north and in Europe, originating from Germany. Adelina was born in Germany but moved to the States to live with her grandma, making her fluent in both German and English.
Pixies are very small people, typically only growing as tall as 5'2, Adelina is five foot even. They live for an incredibly long time, so most don't have children when they are over one hundred years old. Pixies are very adaptive, being able to mold to their surroundings very easily and fit in.
Like any other outcast Pixies have powers, misdirection/confusion inducement, nature channeling, and can cause hallucinations. These powers don't help with the stereotype of the creatures being evil tricksters.
