After the Lincoln county war Billy had left New Mexico for good never to return. He knew that his friends had forgotten him. Chavez had even denied that he knew Billy. Billy was heart broken and sad. He walked from town to town then one day he collapsed just outside of a small town he was very sick with a very high fever and half dead. But a dog named Buck had found him. Buck stayed by Billy's side and wouldn't let the law anywhere near him. Billy knew that he had one friend who wouldn't leave him and forget about him.
