Trouble

I gulped before raising my head to look around me. The table was nearly filled with people all around it. Their eyes looking upon me with mistrust as I shrank into my seat further. I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into. But I knew it couldn't have been anything good. Suddenly, my hood was ripped off my head catching a few stray hairs in the process. I yelped and threw my hands over my head before throwing the man responsible a dirty look.
"Yunho that was unnecessarily rough." A man to my right murmured.
He was slim, dressed in a nice dark blue overcoat that offset his pink hair beautifully. Staring at the room full of men, it was hard to not notice just how overwhelmingly attractive they all were. I tugged my cloak tighter around my small frame, knuckles turning white as I tried to keep my hands from shaking and betraying just how scared I was. Yunho scoffed and leaned down to meet my eyes.
"I'll ask again. Who are you? What are you doing here?" his dark eyes penetrated me turning my mouth dry as it opened and closed trying to formulate some kind of response.
A hand smacked down on the tabletop making me jump. The man sat at the head of the table glaring hatefully at me. His silver hair was styled into an undercut, the longer strands pulled back into a ponytail.
"Speak woman. While we're still being nice." He spat narrowing his eyes.
"You are all so terrifying. Don't you know women respond best to gentleness?" another spoke up tossing a half grin to me.
He was dressed extravagantly in a bright purple silk top, his jacket thrown over the seat behind him as he lazily reclined in it. Long dirty blonde hair was swept back from his face showing off his sharp features.
"I-I didn't mean to intrude. I thought this place was empty." I stuttered trying to catch my bearings.
Another scoff left Yunho as he leaned back against the table in front of me crossing his arms disbelievingly.
"You expect me to believe that you just stumbled in here by accident?"
"It's true! I was being-" I cut myself off chewing on my bottom lip.
Should I say I was running from those men? What if they were associated with them? My eyes flit from person to person suspiciously. Most of them wore clothes that could pass them off as regular townspeople, but anyone with eyes could see that they were well off. They were too put together and their auras radiated power and dominance. It didn't take a genius to figure out that these men were important people. The last thing in the world I needed was an excuse for another group of people to come after me.
"I apologize for disturbing you. I really did think this place was empty. I can get out of your hair now." I mumbled ducking my head and attempted to stand up, but I was roughly seated again by a hand on my shoulder.
The manhandling was starting to get on my nerves. I cast my sharp gaze to Yunho who still loomed over me. He crossed his arms in front of him again.
"You'll leave when I tell you to."
"I'm not sure why you won't let me. I apologized."
He leaned down again, forcing me to lean back until I hit the chair and his nose was almost brushing my own.
"Because I don't believe you." He sneered.
"But it's the truth." I retaliated, throwing him a glare of my own. A hand clapped over Yunho's shoulder pulling him away from me. I looked away from him to the person the hand belonged to, recognizing the head of pink hair.
"Yunho, you're scaring her." He grinned moving in front of him. He gracefully held out a hand with a bright smile. I took it warily, shaking it formally before letting go as soon as I politely could do so.
"I'm San. I'm sorry for their rough behavior. Most of them aren't around women very much. Surely you can understand their hesitance though. We don't know you and you happened to show up during an incredibly important discussion which leads us to think you could potentially be a spy or maybe even an assassin." The look on his face didn't match the words coming out of his mouth.
He was making serious accusations but kept a carefree smile on his face as if he was simply talking about the weather. Just as I opened my mouth to dispute him, a loud banging interrupted me. Shouts rang out behind the door you had locked followed by harsh bangs against it as someone rammed into it. The sudden commotion caught everyone's attention allowing me the opportunity to duck beneath the table. San looked at me curiously until his attention was severed by the deafening splintering of wood as the door broke open revealing the same group of men you were running from earlier.
A soft gasp made it past my lips as I crawled further away from the doorway praying they wouldn't see me hiding. The sound of two more chairs scraping across the hardwood floors rang around the unusually quiet room as two of the men that were interrogating you stood to face the newcomers. "Gentlemen. Can we help you with something?" an eerily calm voice asked.
The loud thudding of boots kept in time with my heartbeats as they made their way into the room.
"We're looking for a woman. I have reason to believe she may have run into this building."
I recognized the voice as belonging to the same man who yelled at me when I started running. I squeezed my eyes shut hoping the men had enough sense to keep my hiding spot a secret. That was short-lived however as a hand grasped the back of my cloak. I squeaked as I was drug out from under the table and made to stand in front of the thugs.
"You mean this one?"
I whipped my head around meeting the sparkling eyes of a massive blue-haired male. Despite the situation, a smirk played at the corner of his lips and his eyes gleamed with amusement. I wanted nothing more in that moment to wipe that god awful smirk off his face.
"That's the one." The thug grinned evilly holding his hand out. "Hand her over and we'll be off."
My body was tugged closer to the blue-haired male as he seemed to contemplate his offer.
"What do you want with her?"
"That's not any of your business."
The silver-haired man leaned back against the table, propping one boot up on the chair he was previously occupying as a sadistic smile spread across his face.
"Seeing as she's in our company at the moment. I'd say it is our business."
The thug glared across the group of men. Probably finally starting to realize that it wasn't going to be as simple as he thought to get them to hand me over. I started to struggle in the blue-haired guy's grasp not wanting to just sit around and wait for them to decide I wasn't worth the hassle of defending.
"All you need to know is that it's personal. I have my reasons for needing her."
Another man clicked his tongue as his sharp eyes pierced the man in front of him.
"I'm afraid that reason isn't sufficient. You see. We have our own business with the young lady."
The thug didn't like the sound of that as he took another menacing step forward.
"Hand her over before you regret it."
The shearing sound of metal against metal rang around the room as San drew his sword from his hip.
"That sounds like a threat." He chuckled darkly gripping the hilt of his short sword tightly.
As if on cue, the thugs also drew their weapons ready for a fight. My heart pounded even harder realizing I was about to be in the middle of a brawl. I struggled even harder, but the grip of the blue-haired male remained firm.
"Mingi, don't let her out of your sight." Yunho ordered drawing his own weapon followed by several other people at the table. The man holding me, Mingi, let out a grunt in response before turning around to usher us out of the room and away from the impending fight. As if our retreat was the signal, both sides clashed against one another as roars of fury erupted from the thugs. They were even matched with the exception of Mingi who was preventing my escape. I watched in horror as they all mowed their way through the thugs almost effortlessly before Mingi pushed me into another room across the hall.
Worried about who these men were and wanting nothing more than to just leave, I punched and kicked my captor until he finally released me. I backed away from him towards a desk at the other side of the room. I rounded it making sure to keep the desk between him and I. It didn't matter though, I had nowhere to run in this small office and his hulking form blocked the door. The sounds of fighting on the other side of it were muffled, but the screams still made goosebumps rise over my skin. Mingi sighed.
"I can't believe I'm missing a fight to babysit."
His statement made my skin crawl. There's definitely something off with these men. I glanced down at the desk in front of me noticing a letter opener laying on top of a stack of papers. I snatched it quickly, holding it out in front of me towards Mingi. While it wasn't much, at least it was something. He scoffed.
"A letter opener. Really?"
"Stay away from me."
He held his hands up in surrender indicating that he wasn't moving from his spot. I kept my weapon raised as I looked around the room for any way to get around him, keeping an eye on him out of the corner of my eye. Figuring the window to my left was my best option, I bolted for it, wrenching the panes open. Mingi shouted behind me as I threw one leg out before I felt his arms loop around my waist to yank me back in. He pulled me from the window and only made it a couple more feet away from it when I attacked. Using my makeshift weapon, I swiped behind me blindly feeling a sense of satisfaction when I felt it make contact and heard Mingi curse. My satisfaction didn't last long however as a searing pain scorched across my palm. I cried out dropping the letter opener and cradling my hand to my chest.
Mingi kicked the opener away from us as he backed me into the wall. Tears stung in my eyes as my hand throbbed and I looked up at him. Blood oozed from the gash in his arm, staining his shirt. Not even two seconds later, the door burst open revealing San, followed by the other six men that were seated at the table earlier. Not even one of them seemed to have any injury from the fight. Mingi backed away when the others entered, angrily making his way to the window I attempted escape out of, slamming the panes shut as he turned back to me with a deep frown etched into his handsome features.
Feeling even more helpless, I held my hand tighter to my chest as I shifted away from all of them.
"What happened?" San asked as he approached Mingi.
He saw the blood oozing from his friend's arm and smirked.
"She got you?" he chuckled.
Mingi only grunted as he brushed off San's hands throwing me another dark glare. I was so preoccupied with the two of them that I didn't even notice someone else approach me and snatch my wrist. I gasped connecting eyes with an otherworldly beautiful man with gorgeous brown locks. He opened my palm, unveiling the weal that had surfaced last night. His eyes widened seeing it before he looked up at me again searching my gaze. I didn't know what he was looking for, but I did know that his honey-colored eyes were captivating and if I weren't scared out of my wits I would be melting into them.
"You?" he murmured eyebrows pinching together in confusion.
"What is it Yeosang?"
His eyes never left mine as he answered.
"She has the mark."
