MNET AND HEROIC CREATIVE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE "SCREAM QUEENS", SURVIVAL SHOW COMING IN 2023

Today, Mnet announces their long awaited new Survival Show, "Scream Queens", in collaboration with HEROIC Creative. The show had long been a rumour floating around, and now it has finally been confirmed, along with more information about trainees, rules and goals.

"Scream Queens" will begin airing in January of 2023, and the show features 99 female trainees, signed under companies or independent, that will compete for a spot in HEROIC Creatives newest 9 member girl group. While name and concept are not yet known, HEROIC has confirmed that their contract will span over 2 years, and may be extended if the members wish to do so.

Jeon Myungsoo, current CEO of HEROIC Creative, has already talked about concerns as well as hopes he has for the show. During a press conference earlier today, he has expressed how he would like "Scream Queens" to differ from other Survival Shows, stating that he is aware of the problems programs like this have caused in the past.

"This is a big step for HEROIC, as well as for me. The group that will come out of "Scream Queens" will be the first group debuting under my wing," Jeon explains, and goes upon being asked about how ethical shows like these truly are: "In the past, programs like these were built on lies. Scenes were cut and edited to change a narrative, to turn young women into villains, to string along a story that never happened. But "Scream Queens" is a reality show. I want everyone to see the reality, the hardships, the pain and success of being a trainee. I want the camera to be running when the girls are happy, also when they're sad, or angry, because it's a part of training. The goal will be to not edit, to not cut, but to show everything. To show truth."

So far, a few trainees have been revealed by their respective agencies or have confirmed their participation themselves, though a full lineup of trainees has not yet been revealed. Mnet and HEROIC also have yet to reveal the shows mentors. However, it is rumoured that some HEROIC artists may have a hand in mentoring or emceeing "Scream Queens".
