The following week came around and Josie was living up to her word.
She was going to go to that big brother and big sister thing with her cousin.
While Lizzie kept her word and made plans with some boy that she's been secretly hooking up with.
"You'll love the kids here. They are very kind and some times they can be hyper but that's what kids are." Stefanie assured as she helped one of the kids open up a Capri Sun. "Here you go, Sammy."
"I think I can handle this." Josie assured before turning over to face the kids that were running out of the bouncy house.
"SAMMY! DON'T—I'll be right back." Stefanie walked off and after the little boy.
Josie ran her fingers through she hair as her eyes caught a glimpse of the numbers counting down on her wrist.
"Amusing, isn't?" Hope questioned as she scared the shit out of Josie.
The brunette held her heart as she rolled her eyes, "you scared the hell out of me."
"I'm sorry. I was just trying to come over here and make conversation." Hope admits as she shoved her hands into her jeans. "You want me to introduce you to the kids?"
Josie nodded softly, "yeah, sure."
The auburn haired girl turned over to one of the little boys that looked about 8. She then smiled at him as she took his hand and stepped forward. "This is Pedro. His family is one of the founding members of the time committee, isn't that right, Pedro?"
Pedro nodded and smiled, "yes, that's true." He then looked up at Hope.
The auburn haired girl leaned down as Pedro tried to whisper, "she's pretty."
"Very." Hope whispered back before looking at Josie. The brunette pulled her lip into a thin line as she tried to contain her blush. "Would like to making art with me?"
Pedro face lit up, "yes! But I can't stay for long, mommy's going to pick me up soon. I have a dentist appointment!" He says excitedly.
—"okay, go get your things and make it easier for her." Hope suggested as Pedro nodded and ran off to his cubby.
"Good with kids, I thought you would make them trip and laugh."
The auburn haired girl looked over at Josie and she scoffed. "I don't get why you always make me out to be so bad. If you want me to bad I can be."
Josie raised her eyebrow with a small grin on her face. "I don't know if we are having a normal conversation or if you are being the usual nasty you but no, I don't want you to be bad."
Hope sighed before playfully rolling her eyes, "don't worry, Josette, I'll be very good." She winked.
The brunette shook her head in disbelief before playful nudging Hope in her side. "You are such a middle schooler."
Hope turned to the table that was full of fun activities. She reached over for her paint and she flicked it onto Josie's face.
Josie gasped as she wiped the yellow paint from her cheek. "Don't start with me, Mikaelson."
Hope grinned, "and what if I wanted to...saltzman." She flicked some more paint onto Josie's face.
The brunette glared, "that's it." She reached for the paint as Hope moved it back and grabbed her arm to hold her in place. "Let go."
"And risk getting paint on my clothes? I don't think so." Hope assured, "besides, I kind of like you from this angle." Hope muttered as Josie pushed forward and rolled her eyes.
Hope smiled and reached over to grab a napkin as she reached up to Josie's cheek. "Would you allow me to be a decent human being and at least fix this?" Hope asked with the napkin lingering in hand.
Before Josie could answer, Hope already started to wipe the yellow paint off. "I didn't want it to stick for much longer. There's no telling how much pain it would be to take it off." Hope made up an excuse.
Josie squinted her eyes suspiciously, "I think you just wanted to touch me, didn't you?" Josie smirked as she stood in between the table and Hope with an ambiguous glare.
"Maybe..." Hope tried her best not to make another dirty joke. "And maybe you wanted me to touch you too." Hope stepped forward with both her hands blocking an exit for Josie.
The brunette ran her tongue over her bottom lip and wet them just a bit. "I think Pedro's mother is here."
Hope turned around to look and Josie quickly pushed her a bit back as she made her escape. "Still typical old you thinking you can get what you want, it's not happening, Hope."
The mikaelson girl raised her hands up in defense. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Josette." She wore an innocent look.
"Whatever you're thinking don't..."
"But what if I was thinking about taking you out to grab some dinner after this?" Hope asked as she saw Pedro's mother actually arrive this time.
Josie turned around before she looked over her shoulder, "as friends, sure."
Hope smiled like a little kid on Christmas Day. "Thank you," she turned around and ran off towards Pedro to bring him to his mom.
Josie smiled as she caught herself. She immediately frowned and turned away from the image of Hope.
The brunette looked around for her cousin before her phone started to ring.
She quickly took it out of her pocket and her eyes widened from shock at the contact name.
She raised the phone up to her ears as she took a deep breath. "Hey, Jade. What's up? Are you okay?"
It took a second but she finally heard Jade's voice. "Yeah, I'm fine babe. I just think that this long distance thing might not work for me"
"What?" Josie moved a string of hair behind her ear.
"That's why I'm coming down there. I want us to work out for the long run and I can't do that if I'm hours away." Jade paused for a moment, "Look up."
Josie raised her eyes from the ground as she looked around. Her eyes met with her girlfriend from afar. The blonde waved Josie over as she smiled.
The brunette immediately ran over to her with so much excitement.
Just as Hope was making her way back to Josie she watch the brunette throw herself into Jades arms. She frowned a bit before turning over to the kids, "come on guys, it's art time." She says as they cheered.
She gave one last look to Josie before walking off with the kids and towards the art room.
