Chapter Twenty Seven

ADDIE

The day of the charity ball has come. I'm a mixture of nerves and excitement. I don't particularly like big crowds but that doesn't mean I can't put on my big girl pants and pretend. Rocco seems a bit on edge as well and I dont know if its anticipation for the event or because its the first time we are stepping out in public together.

I hadn't realised when I first started speaking to Rocco just how much the public eye love to know about his business. There are countless articles online about his life, both personal and professional. It also gives details about when and why he has been arrested. Let me tell you, there is countless arrests. Doesn't really surprise me though.

Rocco and I are not the only ones attending tonight. Rocco's men will all be in attendance as well as Daniel and Rose. Apparently Daniel has been a guest for years now. Guess that's what happens when you are both crime bosses.

Ew I hate myself for saying that.

I've spent the whole day getting ready. I'm showered and every inch of my skin is smooth. I even booked someone to do my hair and makeup. This girl has not had a night out in ages you better believe I'm gonna be looking hot.

I also think a good pamper session just makes you feel on top of the world. I'm even keeping my promise to myself and only having an orange juice, making myself feel better by having it in a champagne glass. Bruno gave me an odd look when I was pouring it but Rocco gave him a pointed look, telling him to keep his mouth shut.

When Rocco and I were alone he pressed a sweet kiss to my head and whispered 'proud of you' before heading off to get ready himself. It may sound stupid but I have a giddy feeling in my stomach knowing I've pleased him. I'm doing this 100% for myself but to know Rocco is supportive means the world.

Its taken a good few hours but finally my hair and makeup are perfect and I've just slid on my dress like it was made just for me.

"Wow hun you look gorgeous!" Hannah the stylist exclaims clapping her hands. I have to agree with her I feel and look pretty amazing right now. Is that shallow to say? Fuck it! Who cares.

"Thank you for making me look like this!" I say, gratitude oozing and I mean it.

As Hannah is packing out her things I put on my heals and jewellery before taking a deep breath. I walk into the livingroom to find Rocco, Bruno and Marco all waiting for me. As soon as their eyes land on me they all inhale a breath.

"Fuck me ginge you look smoking!" Bruno whistles which has Rocco glaring at him. Easy tiger.

"You look stunning Adaline." Rocco murmurs bring me into his arms. His eyes raking up and down my body. Its almost as if he is undressing me with them. Patience is a virtue buddy and you will have to wait. He growls in frustration before pressing a light kiss to my lips.

Bruno hollering at the action which has me glaring and Rocco laughing. With that, we are out the door and into our separate cars. The journey is quick and I'm too in my thoughts to have a conversation with Rocco and by the looks of it he is too. It suits me though, suits me perfect.

When we arrive I notice the red carpet and the array of paparazzi littering the stairs. Geeze I didn't know it was gonna be this intense. Who am I kidding everything is intese with Rocco.

"You ready?" Rocco asks before getting out of the car and coming round to my side. The bastard didn't give me much of an option. Keeping my smile tight I loop my arm around his as he leads me up the stairs.

Multiple different questions getting thrown at us. Mostly asking who I am and what my relation is too Rocco. I fight the urge to roll my eyes when one reporter makes a derogatory remark. Some men have no bounds. I know Rocco heard it as well, his body stiffening and his first clenched but I urge us to walk on. The man really isn't worth it and plus it's something I've gotten accustomed too. Its comes part and parcel with being a woman. Unfortunately.
