Chapter Twenty-six:

Battle of the Minds Pt 4.

CONAN POV

Shinichi and Hattori left the room early that morning around eight O'clock. Kaito was still sleeping and Hakuba didn't feel like leaving the room without him, so the two decided to go downstairs for breakfast themselves.

"Hey Hattori-kun! Conan-kun!" yelled the girl from the train as she ran towards them, a large smile on her face as two other guys followed her. They all looked to be in their mid-twenties.

"Hey", Hattori said, not really caring about her or what she wanted. He focused on his pancakes instead, but Conan watched, curiosity brimming behind his glasses.

"So I did some research on you and your team last night!" the girl said with a wide grin.

"Oh? And what did you find?"

"That you are friends with a Conan Edogawa who is the cousin of Shinichi Kudo, another star high school detective."

"That's right."

"I thought you said they were your cousins?" she asked point at Conan and indicating Kaito.

"Well, they are like my cousins", Hattori challenged, "Kaito is Conan's half-brother."

"Hmm", the girl hummed, "Your lying, not that it matters. I am more interested in your past couple challenges. You were the only group besides one who hasn't failed yet."

"Who was the other group?" asked Conan.

"Us" the girl chirped, "I suppose we didn't introduce ourselves did we? My name is Megumi and these are my university friends, Aki and Tomoharu."

"Pleasure", Tomoharu bowed.

"Sup", Aki replied.

"Nice to meet you both", Conan said back.

Hattori just stared at them flatly.

"Where is Kaito-kun anyways?"

"Ah, Niisan is sleeping. He doesn't like early mornings."

"Oh I see", she giggled, "I guess he did strike me as more of a ... night owl of sorts."

"Are you a detective, Megumi-Nee?" asked Conan.

"Yes actually, though not near as famous as Hattori-Kun or Kudo-kun."

"Megumi Kenta, age 21, Tokyo University, Science Major. Annoying Cousin." stated a young voice from behind.

She turned and smiled politely, but anyone could see the ice that had filled her eyes. Conan and Hattori leaned past her and gaped when they saw who was standing there.

"You're..."

"Long time no see, Kudo-San", Rinji Mateo said with a large smile.

Conan panicked and only then did Rinji realize what he had said.

"Ah, I mean Conan-kun. My apologies, you always remind me of your cousin."

"HaHa", laughed Conan as he looked away, sweat pouring off him as Megumi looked between the two.

"Rinji, I thought I told mom to leave you home. You're always ruining my cases!"

"You mean solving them for you and I can come if I want. Besides, I didn't come to join your silly little team."
