ASPEN waited anxiously in the front living room, tapping her leg slightly. How couldn't she happen to feel anxious? In minutes she would be meeting the people she was forced to spend the whole summer with- the ducks.

the new members of the ducks, her brother's hockey team, arrived the night before in minnesota. for an early "practice" and overall introduction with their new teammates. adam called his sister from the rink informing her to get ready. that all the teammates were going out for dinner, and she obviously was invited with her being the new water girl and all.

so, there she was looking beautiful as ever waiting on the couch. she wasn't a hundred percent sure how to dress so she landed on dressing semi-formal; a casual dress and cardigan duo.

the girl grew impatient waiting, looking out the window for honestly anyone to pull up. for adam hadn't disclosed details on who was picking her up. aspen turned around when she heard footsteps enter through the kitchen. "what are you all dressed up for?" she smiled when she realized it was her dad, not her dreadful mother. "m'going to dinner with the hockey team." aspen replied trying to sound annoyed. he smiled when he heard the glimmer of excitement lining her words. "pen, honey." adam senior said gently sitting at the end of the sofa. i can tell you're excited. i too am aware how silly this "punishment" is." she rolled her eyes playfully. as much as aspen banks hated to attempt it, she loved her father. sure, he held a strong, intelligent, asshole mask. but he really was a sweet man.

"aspen banks, get your shoes off my damn couch." great another sweet father, daughter moment ruined by the mom-zilla herself. aspen dramatically swung her feet off the beloved scarlet sofa, her father helping her lift the injured one. then she proceeded to bend down and tie her shoes. she didn't want to possibly trip and make a fool out of herself in front of the new kids. "i still can't believe you're making me spend my summer with a bunch of puck heads." sandra scoffed and smirked, "you should've done hockey and none of this would've happened." yeah. like sandra banks would be proud to have a daughter with missing teeth. "god, you need new shoes. those look like you ran through hell in them." everyone looked down at aspen's worn, dirty, and heavily beaded doc martens. sandra was about to at another jab at her appearance before they all heard a honking of a car horn. "oh, looks like that's my ride." aspen smirked, grabbing her crutches and hobbling out the front door.

fulton reed assisted aspen as she hopped into the backseat of his shitty astro van, throwing her crutches in the trunk. he was probably her favorite duck if she had to pick. "you look nice." fulton was always an extremely sweet kid. he was the oldest out of the original ducks, hence why he has a car. so aspen has always appreciated his kindness. and the free rides..
