Chapter 6: Donatello

Y/N POV

You had just arrived at the lair for a late afternoon hang out with the boys. Michelangelo was the first to acknowledge your presence.

"Y/N!" He shouts excitedly before attacking you with a hug. You were used to this and catch the box turtle in your arms, laughing happily. "Hey there Mikey! How are you doing today hm?" You ask him as you let him out of the hug.

"I'm good! How was school this week?" He asked. Before you could answer you see Donatello walking back to his lab so you natrully say hello. "Hi Dee." you smile at him and wave. To your surprise his eyes go wide and he says "Hi Y/N, sorry, can't chat very busy." as he rushed to get to his lab. You frown and tilt your head to the side a little. "Mikey did I,... did I upset Donnie somehow?" You ask, returning your attention to Michelangelo.

"That's Donnie for you, alllllways too busy for others." Mikey replied, crossing his arms over his chest and shaking his head.

"Well, well," You hear Leo call out. "I thought I heard you out here Y/N, I've just been itching for a sparring match against you with that fancy Naginata of yours. You game?" He says with a smirk on his lips.

"Oh you are on Nardo!" You say excitedly and you rush past him with Michelangelo on your tail. The three of you head to the dojo. "Whats happenin'?" Raph asked, he had seen you three rush by while he was lifting weights. "Whats happenin Raphael is I am going to spar Leonardo," You grab your Naginata, which was in its miniature form on your belt loop and extend it, spinning it in your hands with the control and grace of a master. "And he is gonna get beat!" You finish and Michelangelo cheers for you.

"We'll see about that Y/N!" Leo unsheiths Odachi from the sheith he had on his back and holds it out in front of him. Raph takes the ref position and says "Alright you two, we want a good clean spar!" He looks at Leo "That means no mystic powers Leo." He says and Leo rolls his eyes but does acknowledge that rule with a nod. "GO!" Raph shouts and the fight begins.

It was amazing, you loved a good spar, especially those with Leo. You could normally get the best of him and rubbing it in his face was fun, but he was well trained with the blade and could be unpredictable at times. The sound of Odachi clashing against the high grade titanium of your Naginata rung out through the lair. It ended up coming down to who got tired the fastest and Leo had better stamina than you. Once you were tired enough you made a mistake and he took advantage. Your weapon clatters to the ground and Leo is victorious.

"Yus!" Leo cheers and you give him a slow clap and a sarcastic smile.

"Well done you two," Splinter said, he was standing next to Raphael.

"Oh! Thank you Master Splinter!" You bow out of respect, you were raised to respect your elders, and of course sensei's throughout your childhood.

"Thanks Pops." Leo says as he resheiths Odachi on his back. "You two are progressing quickly, especially you Y/N, I am very impressed." Splinter added as Michelangelo hands you your Naginata.

"Thank you Sensei, I am really lucky to be training under you and with the guys." You reply with a bright smile. at this point you thought Donatello may have joined to watch the spar, but he was nowhere to be found. You let out a long breath. "That was amazing, but exhausting." you mumble as you return your weapon to its small size.

"Lets go play in the arcade then!" Mikey insited and you agree. You go with the three turtles to the arcade and play games late into the evening before you head home. As you leave the lair you text Donatello to let him know you were going home. You didn't even get a response until you were already home. This would be the case for the entire next week, by the following Friday you were worried, depressed even. Two of your best friends took immediate action, April and Mikey! The two of them ended up talking things out with Donnie and once the purple turtle heard how you had deteriorated he leaves the lair in a hurry.
