Stumped

The breeze was strong that night as I was walking around the camp. All I could think of was Alejandra looking at Blair, but having the deepest guilt in my gut for not thinking of Geoff. I saw a tree with a wide stump and walked toward it to sit against it and look at the stars. As I was about to sit down I heard something behind me and jumped turning to see a shadow of a man. As he walked into the light, I saw it was just Ezekiel.

"Oh my goodness you terrified me Ezekiel--" I said, relieving my anxiety.

"It's alright, you can just call me Zeeke," He said with a welcoming smile. It hovered over my head. I sat against the tree, and Zeeke came to sit next to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and seemed genuinely interested in what was wrong. I rested my head on his shoulder and began to tell him about my guilt, Geoff, and even Alejandro. He listened to me and would react to what I was saying with care.

"Geoff is gone, Heather. The chances of him winning the redemption round are incredibly slim, and I think you should accept it and move on."

"I don't think I can, Zeeke. He was perfect," as I said this Zeeke hugged me tightly, but as I looked over his shoulder with tears running down my face I said something in the grass. I examined it better and saw something that shocked me.

"Zeeke... thank you for this, your listening meant so much to me," I said, standing up and walking over to the item laying in the grass.

"What are you looking at Heather?" Zeeke asked, walking over to me. I leaned down onto one knee and picked it up. I turned to Zeeke, revealing the dandelion sitting in my hand, tears streaming down my cheek and my mascara running down my face. He came over, rubbed my mascara off, and held me tight. He pulled away from the hug, looking up as it began to rain. I looked him in the eye, and it felt like all the guilt went away in a flash of sun. I put my arms behind his neck and leaned my chest against his. As our faces grew closer, the guilt started to grow again, but if I wanted to win this competition I needed alliances, and I needed them fast. I leaned up and kissed him passionately, and he leaned into it. The rain dripped down our faces, and our hands ran through each other's soaked hair. As we pulled apart he smiled warmly.

"Glad I could help you get over that," he said with a wink. I giggled, slightly sad, but also somewhat excited about my new adventures. I leaned back in for another kiss, and he accepted it. As we separated I turned to make sure no one saw us. He took my hand, squeezing it a little.

"Meet me here again under the tree after tomorrow's competition cutie," he said with a wink. Honestly, I did blush a bit and felt the butterflies everyone feels at the beginning of a relationship. I smiled at him and walked away, wiping the tears from my cheeks and ready to resume my plan to win the competition.
