Keefe wasn't expecting to see Foster, but he was secretly hoping that he would. When he heard that knock on the door, his first thoughts were Neverseen! Hide!, but then he remembered it could just be room service (which he learned about in a human book) or maybe someone had gotten the wrong room. Still, he opened the door with his fists out. So, when he saw Foster standing there, he wasn't quite sure what to do.
There was a long period of time where he and Foster just stared at each other, too amazed at each others presence to say anything. His eyes locked with hers, and soon Keefe was finding it incredibly hard to stand his ground when there was this beautiful girl standing right in front of him, soaking wet, obviously having been through a very hard night.
She wasn't supposed to be there. It was safer for everyone.
But, for once, couldn't he just be a little bit selfish?
Suddenly the silence became so unbearable that he found himself moving forward to her, and soon her small figure was pressed against his, and his arms were wrapped around her. How long had it been since they had last hugged? Keefe didn't know, but it was far too long. He had forgotten how whole she made him feel, how much he needed her.
"Foster?" He whispered into her hair. Keefe then noticed that his shirt was suddenly getting incredibly wet and saw she was crying.
"I missed you." Sophie said, sinking her breathing to his. She didn't know when she had started crying, but the tears were flowing freely, and she wanted him to brush them off her face and tell her that everything was okay.
"Ahem, hem, hem." Someone cleared their throat, and Sophie and Keefe quickly separated themselves, trying to play it off as a normal thing friends do, though Sophie's blush said otherwise. Keefe hadn't even realized that Tam and Dex were there too, he was completely focused on Foster.
Dex and Tam both looked slightly uncomfortable, but by then they were so used to the oblivious Foster act that the obvious sign of affection didn't even seem that abnormal.
"Oh, come on in. Welcome to my abode." He said, opening the door and letting everyone pass by him. It was then that everyone in the room realized just how dirty the room actually was.
Yes, it was only a small bedroom and bathroom.
That bedroom had clothes sprawled out all over it.
All articles of clothes.
Oh, shitaki beans Keefe thought as he rushed around, trying to act casual while he picked up some particularly embarrassing pieces and shoved them into the bathroom, which he then closed. Loudly.
Sophie turned fuchsia when she saw the state of the bedroom. Then, in an attempt to offer some privacy, she became very interested in her feet, and her hands, and her hair, and anything that wasn't that room.
Dex immediately recognized the situation and began twiddling with his gadget, acting as if everything was normal. He hoped to never go through that again.
Meanwhile, Tam just looked incredibly bored, apparently unamused.
However, the awkward situation quickly morphed into a moment of humor when Sophie lifted her gaze to meet Keefe's and burst into a chorus of laughter. Keefe started laughing at the same exact moment, and soon the others joined in too.
"I'm sorry, Keefe." Sophie said through giggles, all sadness disappearing. It was a mortifying situation for everyone, and she felt the need to apologize for laughing over it, and for acknowledging it at all. After all, if that happened to her she sure would have had a full blown panic attack, and the last thing she would have wanted was someone laughing at her.
