Ivy's POV
I tapped my pen on the paper as I tried to come up with ideas on how to write the essay. Mrs Crackhead was giving me death glares as I sighed every few seconds. I looked out the window and spotted a couple of kids running with sweat dripping down their face, gross.
To say it was hot was an understatement, bloody hell I could probably fry a piece of stake on the floor with seasoning.
I studied everyone in the classroom. Mrs Crackhead was sitting down reading some stupid book about something that is stupid. Jason and Levi was silently playing thumb wrestles, a group of girls were giggling loudly behind me probably amused at the guys game.
The meatheads besides me kept talking about who was hot and not. Freya continued to have a glaring contest with me, the mark on her face was badly hidden my her make up. I just faked a smile. Val and Carson obviously ditched.
Mom and Dad was hanging out with Nathan an Ivory today, mom said she wanted to get to know her first grandchild. Chase has been coming home very late lately but I just shrugged it off.
I looked at the clock again and smiled as I saw that we had 1 more minute left. I gathered my things so that I could rush out quickly since I was famished.
RING
Yes! Holding my bag, I walked to the door and froze once I heard my name. Turning around, I frowned once I realized that it was Mrs Crackle that was calling me. I concealed my frown with a fake smile.
"Yes?" I gripped my bag tighter. I then actually took the time to look at her. Her orange hair tied into a strict tight bun, her pale pale skin looked so wrinkly like chicken skin. She wore a yellow thick dress that passed her knees with green stockings and black pumps. I cringed at her outfit.
"Miss Jones." She pulled her lips into a thin line, "your grades are dropping. In order for you to pass, you need at least B's and at the moment you have D's and C's. So to catch up for your marks you will have to do a 22 page essay on Of Men And Mice ," I gasped at this but she carried on. She shoved me the book and a pen and paper.
"So discuss the book's view of relationships between the men. You must analyse Steinbeck's portrayal of Curley's wife as the lone female on the all-male ranch. Pay attention to the long descriptive passages at the beginning of each section, discuss the ways in which the novella is similar to a theatrical play. Do these similarities strengthen or weaken the work? Then discuss George's actions at the end of the story. How can we justify what he does to Lennie? How can we condemn it? Also discuss Steinbeck's descriptions of the natural world. What role does nature play in the novella's symbolism? Analyse the characters of Slim, Crooks, and Curley. What role does each character play? You know all that jazz? Now get out. By the way it's due tomorrow, and it is worth 25% of your grade." She smiled wickedly and pushed me out the door while I stood frozen.
What the fudge?
I am going to die.
"Hey, Vee you okay?" I heard Jay calling me and I shook my head. I looked and saw Eli holding hands with Jay. Gasping I told them about the 22 page essay. I watched their mouth drop.
"Damn girl." Eli whistle out making me clench my first.
"You know what? Let's go eat and then we can both help you with you essay." Jay said and I nodded unable to speak.
