A/N: This is inspired by my sleep walking accident last night where my mother found me at 3 AM opening all of the cabinet doors paranormal activity style <3

"Mr. Scott, how exactly does an entire ship lose control of heating?" Mac'hla inquired, grabbing their blanket and pillow.

"I'm not entirely sure, lass. That's what I'm trying to figure out." Scotty explained, a little embarrassed to admit that he wasn't sure.

The environmental control had gone out of whack since the Enterprise had accidentally been hit with a phaser beam from another federation ship, and now the ship was sitting at a chilly 12℃. Tolerable for humans, maybe even nice to some.

But to the cold blooded species on the ship it was proving to be a problem. Some of the crewmen were beginning to fall into hibernation and unable to attend to their duties.

This included Vulcans, who fortunately escaped the effect of hibernation, but were struggling with the cold.

Mac'hla and Spock were headed down to sleep in engineering along with the rest of the warm-climate and cold blooded crewmen.

Mac'hla shivered and pulled their Starfleet issued parka closer around them.

"Lass, it really isn't that bad. It feels like a nice spring day back home in Scotland." Scotty smiled.

"It only gets this cold in the middle of the night in Netrek." Mac'hla protested, "Where we have multiple quilts, thermal clothes, and fires to keep us warm."

Scotty looked at her in shock, "If this is cold, then what is the temperature during the day?"

"It can reach around 73℃, however, on average it is around 50℃."

"My god, lassie. I understand why you're freezing."

"Indeed."

Scotty escorted Mac'hla to the engine room and Mac'hla sighed in relief as the warm air hit her.

"What is the temperature in her, sir?" she asked, looking around at the dozens of crewmen who had made the engine room their bedroom for the night.

"31℃. Almost too hot to work in, but we usually have some cooling in here. We've turned it off for the night."

"I appreciate it, Mr. Scott." they said, and patted his shoulder.

It was still a little cool to Mac'hla, but warmer than the ship usually was. Perhaps she could shed one of her many layers of clothing.

Mac'hla spotted Spock among the crewmen and approached him.

"May I?" They asked, gesturing to the large empty space around him.

It seems that many of the crewmen hadn't 'set up camp' next to Spock, though Mac'hla could somewhat understand. Spock could be a little intimidating... to other people, of course. To another Vulcan, Spock had the intimidation of a teddy-bear.

"Of course." he said, briefly looking up from his PADD.

She set out a mat a few feet away from him and then gently spread out her duvet.

They meticulously made their bed, smoothing out their blanket to ensure there were no wrinkles or folds.

"Maggie!" a Kelpien named Cerese said excitedly, "Isn't this fun?"

"...fun?" Mac'hla asked.

"Yeah! It's like a giant sleepover!" she smiled.

"What is a sleepover?"
