Dauntless

I feel the breeze wild in my hair and the sun kissing my skin as the train rides fast. I take a deep breath, when someone shouts: "They're jumping out!"
" More jumping?" that is Hannah. "I guess we're jumping too then." I tell her as she answers me with a worried look.
"C'mon, together"
She nods and I give her a reassuring smile. We lace hands and just a moment later we are in the air, jumping off a moving train. A damn moving train! My moment of joy and proudness doesn't last long, since I feel many tiny sharp things scratch my knees, hands and elbows. Rocks. "Owch" I mumble.
"Owch? How can you say just Owch (Y/n)?" Hannah wines but she makes it just in time before Sam says: "Oh c'mon it didn't hurt that much"
Yeah right, he's literally rubbing his elbow like crazy, bet it does hurt that much.
Me and Hannah stand up and gather around with everyone else. There's a guy standing on the edge of the building, he looks like he could fall any second; his hair is black and long and it kind of looks unwashed, and his face is covered in piercings. He's staring at us with those icy eyes and a wicked smile on his face. Besides him, there's another guy, he's taller and looks older.
"Everyone!" the last one starts "My name is Max and I'm the leader of your new faction; well, that is so, if you have the guts to jump off and enter our compound. The initiates have the privilege of jumping first." He then finishes.
"How is jumping off a roof without knowing what's underneath a privilege?" wines Jackson. He can't just shut up can he?
Max gives him a stern look, and then says: "So who's going first?"
Silence.
Everyone avoids making eye contact with Max.
Except for me. "I'm going first!"
The words escape my mouth before I can give it some thought. But who cares?
Everyone is no longer silent, they're whispering. Of course they are. I step on the edge of the roof and look down: I see nothing but a big hole; i can't see the end.
I take off my cardigan, like it matters.
"Yes take it off stiff!" damn Jackson.
I throw it at him, and let myself fall down.

I can't hear anything, I don't want to hear anything, I just wish to feel the wind mess up my hair. I laugh. I laugh not because I'm hysterical, but because it's fun. I let myself enjoy it, I let my laugh fill the space around me.
Until I hit something with my body. It's a net!
Someone pulls it down, and I slide that way. I almost fall down, but a pair of strong hands gets me and puts me down.
"Hey" says a tall boy, with short brown hair and deep dark blue eyes. "Hey" I say out of breath from all the laughing.
"What's your name?"
"..(Y/n)"
"First jumper, (Y/n)!" he shouts.
"Welcome to dauntless (Y/n)"
I smile at him while a bunch of people congratulates me for jumping first. Apparently it's a big thing.

Half an hour later, all of the initiates are down, and the guy with the long black hair starts talking: "I'm Eric, one of the leaders of this faction. This" he says tilting his head towards the guy who helped me get down the net "is Four, he will be your instructor for the initiation test. Only a few of you guys are going to be effective members at the end of it, and those ones will be the ones on top of the rankings. You chose us, now we choose you."
Mumbling and whispering raises from the group of people around me; no one told us that we were going to be "chosen". It's going to be harder than I expected.

It's been a couple of minutes since Eric told us that, and we're now following Four: he said he's showing us around.
"This, is what we call, the Pit. In here is where the dauntless gather, they chat, eat, play games. Pretty much any sort of thing."
I get why they call it the Pit: it's a huge underground cave, and it's filled with people.
Afterwards, Four orders us to follow him once again. He's pretty assertive, I admire that.
We found ourselves in front of a pair of doors, and when Four opens them, he starts explaining:
"This is your dorm"
"Girls and boys together?" asks a boy. He is not so tall, his hair is blonde and wavy and his eyes dark. I think his name is Aiden.
"Exactly" answers Four. Great.
Some guys, let out laughs and sounds of approval. Some others are not as happy about it.
"If you like it here you should see the bathrooms!" shouts Four.
And the bathrooms are worse. There isn't any kind of separation, and the showers are a bunch of holes in the wall.

After the exiting yet not finished tour, apparently, we get changed in dauntless clothing, and Four brings us back to the Pit to have dinner. There are so many people it's terrific.
We get in line, and me, Hannah, Sam and Aiden (Sam knows him) sit all together in a table. A few minutes passed, and Four sits there with us.
Huh.
We all stare at him. And he stares back with a questioning look on his face.
There's a moment of silence, and then we get back to eating.

"What? You never saw an hamburger?" Hannah asks to me.
"No I did, I've just never eaten one."
"That's normal. Abnegation only eat simple food, differently from other factions" Aiden says, spitting facts.
"Don't talk about your old factions, you're dauntless now" scolds us Four.
"Not quite yet, are we?" I mumble, pretty sure no one heard me, but he does, and just grins to himself.

He looks younger when he does that, less authoritarian. It suits him.

A.N.
Heyyyy, it's nothing special, but we met FOURRR.
Hope you enjoyed, buh-byeeee.
