────────────

The light disappears... it happens when you least expect it. You are disarmed, you get stabbed in the back with a knife. And as the world collapses, the three 'Ds" overwhelm you like a big wave. Devastation, despair and darkness. But here's the thing about Margot Moore. She didn't get surprised with those feelings. Devastation, despair and darkness, already lived inside of her. They had been living for years. Actual residents of her mind, rent free. She had learnt to use those feelings in her advantage. So easily that sometimes she made everyone around her feel them with every consequence that followed them.

But that wasn't what her brother thought of her. Aiden had one line in his mind whenever he thought of his sister. There is no end of things in the heart.

And the truth that only Aidan knew for his sister was that she took things to heart, so there would always be there with her.  Whether it was a person, a place or a dream. No matter what happened, it would be there waiting for her. It all sacred. Everything was carrying the same beat as her heart.

The confession came at a night at a church. Aiden was religious, his sister wasn't. But she always went with him, with the excuse of his illness kicking in when she wasn't around. His need to pray came at nights, so Margot always put her coat on and escorted him in there. One time he asked her for the reason of her companion. It couldn't just be his illness, he told her, he understood her. He still remembered her so clearly as she looked up at the crucifix - the cross image of Jesus had her eyes locked on it. And when she started speaking it was like he actually heard her for the first time. "I can't sleep Aiden, I see the people I have loved and hated and helped and hurt. I see the hands that reach for me. And I want to feel nothing, but everything just seems so close to my heart."

Aiden knew right there that there was no end of things in her heart. Even when she said she didn't care, when everyone called her heartless and cruel, and even if those things were true ninety percent of the time, Aiden knew that side of her. And the side that had been taking care of him for half of his adult life.

"But I guess Jesus will save my soul." She added then, the truth in her voice disappeared in the cruelty of her face and irony in her words. And then Aiden remembered that his sister was complicated like that.

And despite her complicated nature, his best friend Sebastian Morgan, didn't miss the chance to ask him about her every time they met. Sebastian had known the siblings for half his life, being a coworker with the fourty-five year old Aiden, up until the point he had to stop working. Or up until the point he was fired because he had cancer. But that didn't end the friendship between the two of them.

The gloomy evening found the two of them at a bar in the center of city. Seattle reunited the two friends in a rainy and depressing setting. But they didn't let any of those things stop them from catching up after so many gloomy days in their lives.
