The Christmas holidays arrived and pretty much all students left. Just a few students stayed behind, none of my close friends where those students. But there was one I knew a little bit, Draco. I was stunned to see him in the great hall the first day of our holidays.

I was at the tower when all the students left. I watched them while they walked to the train station. Some looked very happy and joyful, playing around and being foolish with their friends and some looked a little bit more concerned. A part of me wished to go with them and another part feared for the safety of all but mostly for my close friends. I thought Draco would get home for sure, I don't know why but it seemed wierd that he would stay here. Maybe he didn't want to go home because of some family drama or maybe his family had the same worries as mine.

I was sitting in the great hall eating my breakfast when I saw him enter the room in his black suit. He looked very elegant and formal. I almost thought he was going to a important gala or something but there was nothing like this in hogwarts or hogsmeade, not that I knew about it.

He sat down at the slytherin table, alone. None of his friends stayed at Hogwarts either. His eyes looked tired and the dark circles underneath them got bigger, I grew a feeling of real concerned for him.

I quickly stood up and walked across the great hall. Nobody cared about me. I walked straight up to Draco that sat at the  front of the slytherin table. Not even he noticed me until I stood right in front of him. He looked at me with the most confused look at his face. His gace wandered around the hall and then back to me. I sat down next to him, with one leg of each side of the bench, a little to close actually. I moved a little as soon as I noticed how close I sat next him.

"What are you doing here?", he asked.
"Wanting to eat breakfast with a friend, and you? Are you not hungry at all?", I replied.
He didn't say anything, he just stared at his empty plate. Up close he looked even worse. So powerless and drained.
"Well I don't like to eat alone too. That's why I thought we could eat together, maybe a little company could help both our appatites.", I said while moving both my legs under the table and filling up my new plate with toast and an apple. Draco looked at me filling up my plate.
" But your at the wrong table. I mean you can't just..... Why would you...?", he stumbled over his own words not really knowing what he wants to say.
"Like I already told you, I don't like to eat alone and all of my hufflepuff friends are at home with their families. I don't know the second year hufflepuffs and don't want to get to know them. I don't know the ravenclaws either and there just here to study in the library while it is as empty as it gets. The griffindors might be good company but they are all just couples snogging all day long and then there's you. I know you already and the bonus we are already some sort of friends.", I rambled on while preparing my toast with cream cheese and starting to fill up Dracos plate as well," so I figured it would be the easiest to sit down next to you and eat.", I finished and took a big bit out of my toast. Draco looked at me, then at his now overflowing plate and back to me. I grinned a little while chewing and locking eye contact with Draco.

" Okay if you don't want to be close friends that's fine. I don't want you to talk to me in the hallway or sit next to me in class or share your homework with me. I want you to trust me as a regular friend. I see how you struggle with something and I don't know what it is, that's fine, I don't need to know. I don't even want to know what that is but I can not get out of my hufflepuff habits to see someone suffer and just do nothing!! We became friends at the beginning of this school year and I care for all of my friends! And oh... How funny! That includes you.", I said, slowly becomming a little frustrated yet sceptic if he would accept my speech. Draco was still looking at me. He then slowly moved his hands and started eating. I could see how his body started to look softer. He only now realized how hungry he was and started digging into the food.
