the plane was just about to take off, mia and olivia had found their seats and had been sitting in them for the past thirty minutes, while they waited for the rest of the passengers to board the plane.
"i can't believe we're actually doing this," mia said, looking at her best friend with wide, excited eyes.
"i know, me too. when we said last year that we were going to go to barcelona, i didn't think we'd actually do it, not for a few years at least," olivia said, looking out of the window at the runway, as the plane veered round to get into position for takeoff. olivia had to have the window seat otherwise she would be extremely travel sick, and mia knew better than to fight her for it after the many incidents that she had had with her.
"yeah, like the time we said we were going to run away to america when we were fourteen. i mean, there was a reason why that one didn't happen, thank god. but we have said we have wanted to do many things and just never done them, though. but i'm so glad we're doing this, liv, and there's no one else i'd want to do it with either."
"me too. can you imagine anyone else trying to deal with either of us?"
"i'd like to see them try," mia giggled.
"are you excited to be going back home," liv asked mia. mia's father was from barcelona, and she had spent the early years of her life in spain, before moving to england, where her mother was from, at age five.
"yeah, definitely. it's been so long since i was last in barcelona. i'll be glad to see my favourite places again, and spend all day either at the beach, shopping, or watching football."
"you and football," liv giggled and rolled her eyes jokingly. growing up in a football obsessed family, it was hard for mia to avoid, and the fact that her father supported one of the biggest clubs in the world, made it even harder to ignore. fc barcelona were known around the world as a superpower in football, and they were also the club that mia had supported basically her entire life, at the hands of her dad.
"well, it's been forever since i went to a barça game in person, so why not? when in barcelona and all that."
