Genuinely Fake (Landas ng Oras; Book #1)

Prologue

"Doctora, may check-ups po kayo mamaya. I will also inform your patients na nag-iintay sa labas na tapos na po 'yong surgery. Maliban po sa check-ups... I think that's all for today, Doc" My secretary informed me while we're on the way to my office. Kakatapos ko mag-opera, and thank God it was a success. Being a Doctor means time is everything. Kailangan lahat ng oras ko'y kalkyulado kung hindi ay marami akong maiiwanan, minsan nga'y kahit oras para sa aking sarili ay kulang pa.

Nang makarating kami sa aking opisina ay muli kong tiningnan kung anong mga trabaho pa ang nararapat kong gawin. Ang mga scheduled check-ups ay magsisimula ng 1pm pagkatapos ng tanghalian, ngayon ay 11:30 pa lamang. Lumabas ang aking Secretary upang bumili ng aking pananghalian ngayong araw bago ako mag-trabaho muli. Naupo ako sa isang swivel chair at binuksan ang aking laptop to check e-mails from my friends and family.

While scrolling through my e-mail, I saw an e-mail that was weird enough so I decided to check it. I often get e-mails from different people consulting or offering me some items or brands. Believe me or not, kahit ako'y isang Professional Doctor na ay medyo may pagka-maraming tao ang humahanga sa akin. Duh, sa ganda kong 'to. But this e-mail was incredibely eye-catching because it was titled as "Reunion Invitation". I clicked on it.

Agad-agad akong nag-reply sa kaniya upang ipa-alam na ako ay sasama sa gathering. I can't believe it... it has been 10 years since highschool and look where we are right now. Some of my batchmates are Lawyers, Engineers, Pilots, Teachers, and even Doctors like me. We've become real successful and I'm proud. What can we say.. 'yong dina-down nilang section, iyon pa ang naging successful sa huli. Take that, mga kontrabidas! Charot!

I immediately grabbed my phone and went to instagram. Kahit papaano ay minsan may oras ako sa mga ganitong bagay, life updates ganon. Wow, influencer 'yan! I typed her username and visited her account. So, she's also a Licensed Doctor. Wala na, naiiyak na ako sa sobrang proud. I clicked follow and instantly slid into her dms to message her. While doing so, my Secretary went in with my food in her hand.

"Doctora, here's your lunch! I bought salad like you told me. Kaya pala ang fresh mo po palagi; healthy lang lagi ang kinakain mo. Enjoy your meal, Doc! Mauna na po ako." She excitedly said, while handing me the paper bags with the food inside. I thanked her as she walked out of my office.

"I will prescribe some medicine that will help your toncilitis, okay? You just have to drink it time to time and it will heal instantly. I know it will taste bad, but in the mean time you have to endure it so you'd be healthy again!" I told the kid infront of me while writing her prescriptions. This is my last check up right now, and it's currently 8pm in the evening. Nagmamadali na ako sa pagche-check-up sakanila sapagkat malayo pa ang kanilang tinitirahan, baka mawalan sila ng sasakyan. They thanked me as they got out of the room, waving goodbye. I have always liked children, it makes me sad whenever I see kids getting admitted in the hospital. I don't want to see kids suffering; They will always have a soft spot from me.
