Chapter 3

They all ate dinner then Biana shouted, "Let's play truth or dare!".   "Nooooooooooooo", Sophie replied. "Well then let's vote", Biana said. Sophie cringed. The majority of them voted for truth or dare. "What if you don't want to do a dare?" Dex asked. "Well then you have to take of one piece of clothing", Marella said, as if it were obvious. Tam had to go first. "Truth or dare?" asked Biana. Tam looked deep in thought for a while then picked dare. "I dare you to die your bangs pink", Biana said cruelly. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME", Tam screamed. "I'll get an exilor", Dex laughed. Soon after, Dex had bright green freckles, Keefe had to hail Councilor Alina and tell her how much he loved her, Fitz had to tell everyone about the chandelier incident, and they were all complete disasters! 

After about 4 circles they got bored of truth or dare. "What about 7 minutes in a closet", Marella laughed. "Ok", Wylie said, stealing a glance at Linh. They put their names down in a hat and picked two names at random. "Sophie and Fitz", Dex said awkwardly.

Fitz's POV

Fitz wrung his hands awkwardly. "Okay let's get in", Fitz said, climbing into the closet. They sat down for a few seconds, the silence thick in the air, when Fitz finally spoke. "Sophie, you know how cognates are meant to know everything about each other."   "Well...yea", responded Sophie hopefully. Fitz hated that he may destroy that hope. "I have been wanting to tell you this for a really long time and I guess right now is when I'll say it", Fitz paused for a second, "I always am stuck being the golden boy and everyone always talks about how the "Great Fitzphie" will happen but", Fitz paused again, "I don't like you. I don't actually like girls in general. I'm gay"

Sophie gasped and Fitz wondered what it meant. "Fitz I'd never judge you. To be honest, I thought I liked you though now that I think about it, I just liked the idea of liking you." Fitz winced. Her crush on him was painfully obvious. "So... who's the boy", Sophie remarked. "It's... Dex." "Oh damn", Sophie said, "I'm sorry did I say that out loud?" Fitz slowly nodded. "Well, I am so happy for you and hope that it happens. And don't do anything to hurt him or I'll go full on Grady on you", Sophie said jokily. "Don't worry, I never will", Fitz said gently. Marella opened the door. "I'm shocked that you two weren't making out", Marella said sarcastically. Fitz could see Sophie flinch and ignored Marella. "Let's pick the next people".

Marella reached her hand into the hat and read the two names.

"Sophie, again, and Keefe"....
