The Secrets Of Krilux

Chapter 3

That evening, Lucien met with his royal council and Lord Dredge in the castle's meeting room. He waited for everybody to take their seats, before standing up and placing his hands on the circular table in the middle of the room.

"Hello everybody, I have summoned you all here today for a rather important meeting. First of all I must address the Kriluxean in the room, Lord Dredge Mastriano. He came to me seeking an alliance after his faction of The Kriluxean Empire gained a new ruler. I do not trust him one bit, and I would advise that you all remain on guard around him, however he does provide some rather useful insight into the empire." Lucien started, "Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I must inform you that Lord Dredge here seems to believe that the entire Kriluxean Empire is going to attack Darkheart. As you know, The Kriluxean Empire is much bigger than Darkheart, so if the majority of the empire attacked all at once then there would be a rather large number of casualties on our part."

"What do you propose we do, my king?" Noelle asked.

"I believe that the best course of action would be to attack from the inside out. We must infiltrate the empire by posing as Kriluxeans and then we must strike before they do. Lord Dredge knows his way around The Kriluxean Empire presumably like the back of his hand. As a former faction leader, he should also know quite a lot about the current leaders and their locations. He shall serve as our guide and our key to taking down the empire."

"Lucien, you can't be serious about this." Evelyn said.

"Why not?"

"You're seriously putting this much faith in a Kriluxean? Do you have any idea how easy it'd be for him to betray us and give us in to the empire?"

"I know, but if he even so much as tries to betray us then I shall not hesitate to kill him. He knows this all too well, so if he values his life then he shall not try anything."

Lucien then turned to Dredge.

"As for you, I expect you'll tell us everything you know about The Kriluxean Empire and it's current leaders."

"Of course, your highness. The four main gates of the empire are heavily guarded, so we must avoid those at all costs. There are a total of seven gates that are not as well known, however each of those has two or three guards stationed at them, all except one. This gate is incredibly hard to find and as a result has only one guard stationed at it, this guard used to be stationed at one of the main gates but was moved to this gate after being caught drinking on the job. As long as we bring a bottle of strong alcohol to bribe him with, he should let us in and keep our entry a secret." Lord Dredge explained.

"Can't we just climb over the walls or get Lucien to fly us over?" Edward asked.

"You could, if the entire empire was not enclosed in a large dome of impenetrable glass. Multiple people have tried to sneak in that way before, mostly assassins who wish to overthrow the leaders, so the previous leader of the first faction had a dome built over the empire to prevent it from happening again."

"This previous leader, who were they?" Lucien enquired.

"Her name was Doctor Nightshade."

"By any chance was her first name Isabella?"

"I believe so."

"Criminally insane? Experimented with immortality?"

"You know her?"

"I know her all too well..."
