Dragons are real. They are alive and they live among us. Dragons can look like anybody. Anyone. There is no tell tale sign about who are dragons or not. I just hope that this story will help you understand more about these miraculous creatures. This story is set in a normal country place. This is my story of how I found out about dragons and the other creatures.
My name is Samfire. Quite a ridiculous name, don't you think. Samfire, I get called loads of stupid names because of that one. Anyway my surname is even worse. It is Flyte. Samfire Flyte. Only later would I learn how important that name is. Anyhow, this story starts when I was 7 years old.
It is night. The stars are glowing and the moon is shining a path across the park. The park is abandoned but I feel completely safe. This is my area, my territory. I have been coming here for just over a year. I found it on my 6th birthday after an arguement with the 'rents. I sat on the swings staring up at the sky finding my favourite constellations, out of the 13 I knew. I had just located Aquarius when my head started aching and I knew that I had to get home right away. I ran and I ran, the fastest that I had ever managed to go. I felt like I would of been able to out run a cheetah! I sprinted all the way home.
When I got home I looked in the window and saw 2 people in the room with my parents. One of the newcomers, a woman, walked up to them. She had shiny black hair that looked like it belonged in a l'oreal adverted when she spoke. Her voice was high and nasally Luke that annoying neighbour who is always sticking her nose into your business and being a pest.
"You know that she is our" with a hand motion to the other person, a man, "daughter. She is adopted you know that, you signed the papers! We will leave her with you but when the time is right we WILL come back for her! This is only temporary."
I ducked under the window and hid. I may have been young but I could clearly hear and understand the threat in her voice. It scared me. It scared me a lot. As the strangers walked out, a voice in my head muttered
'Remember this. One day it will all make sense.'
Everything was fine for a year but as I grew older I noticed more and more differences between me and my parents. I knew that I was adopted bit this was just crazy. Hell I was even different to other children my age. And you know what kids are like. Anything they don't understand they are horrible too. It was okay though. I could deal with that. I could put up with the name calling and my belongings being destroyed and the rumours. Then came that day, the day my destiny was decided. They day I found out.
