So, there's this problem. Kazuki has been doing everything to make sure Miri has the most normal childhood experience- well, at least as normal of one as someone in her situation could.

He's done all he could possibly think of and more. He's given her lots of toys and clothes, he and Rei spend a ton of time playing with her, he gives her a balanced diet, he takes her to daycare, what more could he do? Apparently a lot.

He's been spending some time with the other moms' at the daycare, trying to learn more about this whole parent thing and who better to ask than other parents? Specifically the 'normal ones'. He's been doing this ever since Miri's fight with that one boy who's name he can't quite recall. While the fight wasn't about her being a bad kid, he still wants to make sure she knows how to resolve conflicts with other kids that doesn't end up with someone getting hit.

Just the other day some of the parents got together at the park while the kids played and Kazuki figured it would be a great place to not just get advice but to meet possible friends. It's very important to him that he knows at least a little about the other parents. He figures it would be good for Miri if he were friends with her friends parents. One of the moms told him that the reason her son plays so well with others is because her and her husband set a good example of what two people interacting and caring for each other should look like.

"If you want your child to have healthy relationships with others, you have to show them what a healthy relationship looks like."

Something just kind of clicked in Kazuki's brain. Of course, Miri needs a role model couple in her life; and that just happened to be the one thing that she didn't have. Instead of a happy, loving couple she's being raised by two work partners — who are in a very sketchy line of businesses which doesn't make things much better.

"But what if the happy loving healthy couple isn't something that she could have? She doesn't have a mom, it's just me and my roommate," Kazuki takes a water bottle that Sakura, the mom that he has been talking to, hands to him.

"Oh, yes, right, you don't have a wife, do you?" She says, frowning.

"Not at the moment, no" Kazuki scratches his cheek and looks away shyly.

"Is your roommate the one with the black hair?" Kazuki nods.

"Oh, I thought you two were together, my bad."

Sakura pauses to take a drink from her own water bottle.

"Well that's fine. As long as your kid knows what a good relationship looks like, she should be okay. And anyway, relationships don't always have to be romantic. I had Louis before I met by current husband so before he came into the picture it was just me and my sister raising him."

"Yeah, thank you."

Sakura looks back at him and smiles, patting one of Kazuki's hands before getting up from the bench. "As long as she knows what a good relationship looks like, she should be okay for the next long while." She smiles at him again and walks off to go get her kid.

Kazuki just sits there on the bench with his thoughts while Miri plays on one of the swing sets with her friends. Getting a girlfriend or potential wife is off the table for now. With his work and everything that happened with his old wife he just can't bring himself to bring another woman into the picture. It wouldn't be safe for her, whoever she may be. Plus it would be a big change for Miri and she seems content with having just him and Rei parent her even though he'd hardly count Rei as her parent because he does virtually nothing except play Morio Cart with her. So the only thing left for him to do is to strengthen the bond between him and Rei, hoping that it may suffice for long enough.
