I exited the elevator, and was greeted by the receptionist with a warm smile.  "Good morning ma'am. I smiled back, "Good morning. The name is Annie. Please call me Annie."  Is it just me, I don't like being called ma'am. It makes me feel

"Okay ma'am. My name is Joshua, do you need help with anything?"
I mentally roll my eyes as he doesn't call me by my name but ma'am again making me feel old. But I refocused remembering the task at hand. "Yes Joshua. I actually do need a little help. I'm new here, and I don't know my way around just yet. Are there any good cafes near by?"

"I can certainly help you with that Ms. Annie. There is a nice cafe a few blocks from here, it's called Storyville Coffee Cafe."
My stomach made a loud gurgling sound as embarrassment washed over me.
Joshua gave me a knowing smile and said
"They have the most delicious breakfast menu I've every had. I think you'll find it to your liking."
I thanked Joshua and made my way to the front door. I was greeted by the doorman who opened the door for me as he tipped his hat. Smiling, I thanked him and went in search of the Storyville Coffee Cafe. The sky was clear and blue with no clouds in sight. The street was busy with vehicles going by, and people going about there business on the sidewalks.

After walking for five minutes, I came to a stop in front of the cafe. I entered the large cafe that had a rustic look with different shades of browns from ceiling to floor. It was busy with customers going in and out. There was regular chairs place around wooden tables in the centre of the cafe, and different size sofas by the huge arch windows.

I spotted a empty sofa at one of the windows and made my way over to it. I sat down and placed my purse and phone on the table. A waitress came over to me.
"Good morning, my name is Kim and ill be your serving you today. Here is your menu. I'll be back in a few to take your order."
I greeted her and with that she spun on her heel and walked off giving me time to skim through the menu. My mouth watered as I read through the menu. Just as I decided what I wanted Kim came back. "Have you decided what you would like today?"
"Yes! For starters I would like a chai latte, the market fresh fruits, annnd a breakfast sandwich with cheddar cheese. Thank you"
"Awesome. I'll put your order in."
She took my menu and walked away.
After a few minutes she came back with my tea and followed with my breakfast.
My mouth started to water all over again from the delicious smell of my breakfast sandwich. I licked my lips, and hurriedly ate my fruits. Rubbing my palms together I smiled at my sandwich and took a bite... It tasted just as good as it looked. Savouring the taste, I close my eyes moaning delight. With a few more bites I was done, and started on my chai latte.
Kim came back with a big smile on her face. "Somebody was really hungry!"  Chuckling, I nodded shyly agreeing with her. "Did you need anything else?" My smile broadened as I said, "Don't judge me. But yes, just one more thing. A chocolate chunk cookie would be the cherry on top to seal the deal."
"Don't you worry caramel bunches of oats! No judgment here. You know us foodies have to stick together!" Kim's response automatically made me feel comfortable, and I fully relax. I like her.
"We sure have to. A wise person once said food is life."
"I like that person!"
I laughed at her comment.
"My name is Annie by the way."
"Nice to meet you Annie! I gonna go get you that cookie. Give me a sec."

When Kim came back with the cookie she told me to take a bite. As she stood there watching me, I did as she ordered me to. I moaned and almost had a food orgasm! This damn cookie is really good.

Kim's smile broadened. "I knew you were gonna love it! It's my favourite too"
"Ooh Kim! This is too good! Thanks"
"No worries hunny. I'll leave you to it, and I'll bring the bill when you're finished."
I thanked her again. She walked off  checking on other customers.

Kim cam back just as I finished chewing the last bit of the cookie. I payed and left the cafe feeling full.

As it was was just 9:30am I walked around a bit admiring the different sceneries. Then it hit me that I needed to call both my moms to notify them that I was safe and doing okay.
I was on the phone with my biological mom as I was heading back to the apartment. "Hey mom!"
"Annie! Are you okay? Why are you just calling me? Do you know how worried I was!?"
Just as I predicted, she was worried. And now I would have to listen to her lecture me about notifying her that I'm safe, especially when I'm in a another country by myself.
"Mom calm down, and breathe. Come on, do it with me. Inhale.... Now exhale... I'm okay. I got in late so I just showered and went straight to be."
"I've told you so many times that it's important to let me know that you're safe. Don't you hear about all those missing people on the news all the time?! That's because the don't let people know where they are, and that they are in a safe environment...."
I am so happy that my mom loves me so much, but I dread hearing her lectures.
After she calmed down, I told her everything she needed to hear, then we said our goodbyes.

As I was about to cross the road while attempting to call my adopted mother, I heard tires screeching.
As I looked up, all I could see was my life flash before my eyes! I was glued to my spot in the road like damn deer in headlights. This is it god! I've been good, now please accept me l, and my unborn child into heaven with open arms, cause I only reserved parking there.
Just when I thought it was about to be the end of me. The black sports car stopped in time. My senses came rushing back like a over flowing dam, and boy was I mad.
He came rushing out his sports car, hands flared and looking as red as a tomato ready to blow.
"Woman are you crazy, just walking out into the road without looking!!!"
"Crazy?! You ass wipe! You almost killed me!"
"You have yourself to thank for that! Didn't you ever hear that you should look before crossing the road and not be on your phone!"
"Don't tell me what I should or should not do! Now piss off, so I can be in peace you ugly ass wipe!"
Closing his eyes, he pinched the bridge of his nose. Opening his eyes he looked at me with pure rage like he was going to say something else; but his phone ringed. Looking at the caller ID he gave me one last look that could kill me on the spot. I walked off leaving him. He answered his phone angrily got into his flashy car and speed off down the road.

I had to calm myself down, and take some deep breaths before I continued my walk back to the apartment. I refocused on calling my adopted mom. The call was quick as she was busy, and ended just as I entered the apartment building.
