It was a quiet Sunday morning when I first met the woman I will never forget in this life. I could even vividly remember that it happened on one of those cold November days, my sister ran inside our house and announced to everyone that her best friend was back from Spain. My forehead creased out of confusion. Why? Well, I didn't know she had one. I even thought she was just joking so I just continued doing my usual routine.
When noontime came, I had to go down because it was already lunch and I was so hungry because of school work. Mom called me so I was almost running down the grand staircase of our house. But then, in the middle of nowhere, a woman in her early twenties — wearing a cotton white dress — was staring at me at the very last step of the stairway. I stopped midway and stared back at her. She had foreign features, a European beauty — seductive yet angelic. Plus she had piercing Spanish blue eyes that somehow melted the ice walls I've built and captured my heart like how her ancestors did. And it hit me, it was love at first sight.
I was just fifteen and yet, I fell in love.
On that very day, while eating our lunch, my sister introduced her to us. Her name was Carmina. It sounded like a garden full of life. I even had to bite my lower lip to suppress my smile, for when I heard it, my heart started to sing her name like it was the only lyric it has ever known. The only thing that caught me off-guard was when she turned to me, giving me the warmest smile I've ever seen.
Yes, I was totally whipped with just one look and one smile from her.
Days have passed and I've gotten to know her more. She was indeed my sister's best friend, they had migrated to Spain when she was eight. Her father was a Spaniard, her mother was, of course a Filipina. She just came back for a vacation.
Oh, and I almost forgot. She's a doctor and that made me admire her even more.
A/N: Please don't be mad, I'm posting this for my friend to read. I'm hoping for your kind understanding. Thanks. ❤️
