³The Emerson's³

   Andy day seemed to be going in slow motion, but he didn't quite know why. The real reason however was how much he wanted to go home and meet his new neighbors and of course the boy.

   There was no basketball practice that night so Andy took the regular bus ride home, gravel crunched under his shoes as he walked up his driveway holding his bag over one shoulder and casually glancing to the plot across from his.

    Upon getting inside his mother stood waiting for him, "so kiddo are you ready to head over? Or would you like a minute beforehand?" She gestured for him to anser and he threw his bag down to the ground.

   "Uh, yeah I'll take a minute," he replied awkwardly, knowing how much he wanted to meet them, "I'm just going to find a new shirt, that's all," he took his shoes of and quickly hopped up the stairs to his bedroom.

   Remembering that the boy was wearing a Back to the Future t-shirt Andy decided on his goonies shirt and changed out of his current one, which was basic and sporty, something he didn't think the boy would like as much.

   He checked himself in the mirror to make sure he looked presentable for his first impression. Using his fingers he fluffed up his hair like always and positioned his basketball hat on his head, he grinned into the mirror then turned the lights off and left downstairs.

   "Alright mom, I'm ready to go!" He smiled slightly, putting on his Vans and tying the laces into bows. Once he stood up he opened the door for his mother.

   "Thank you Andy," she smiled and took the cake from the fridge being careful not to drop the dessert. "You seem to be excited," she patted him on the back and continued out the door.

   Andy shut the door and walked after her, "well I just- it's nice to finally have neighbors again, you know?" He quickened his pace to reach his mother who was already halfway to their house.

   She stepped up to the door and knocked twice before waiting patiently for them to answer, "you know Andy, it would be awesome if you two became friends! You could hang out all the time, maybe less time on your video games," she said knowingly. Andy was going to answer before the door opened to reveal a woman in her forties.

   "Hello! We are your new neighbors," She claimed sweetly," we wanted to welcome you to our neighborhood! My name is Rosie Anderson and this is my son Andy!"

   "Oh, thank you so much!" The lady replied smiling," That's so nice of you, we're the Emerson's, I'm Avery!"

   Andy's mother held out the dessert she had made, "I baked you a cake, I hope you like strawberries!" She laughed, mrs. Emerson took it thankfully.

   "Oh I just love strawberries, and so does my son," Mrs. Emerson opened the door more and gestured for them to enter, "come in, come in! I'll introduce you to my family,"
  
    The Emerson house was rather empty because they had just moved in, however they had most of the living room set up. Andy and his mother sat down on one of the couches and Mrs. Emerson called up the stairs for her husband and son.

   Mr. Emerson came down first and a few minutes after her son finally waltzed down the stairs currently fixated on his Nintendo switch, "sweetie, we have visitors. Get of of that thing for a while and experience real life," his mother commended. 

   The Boy set his Switch onto the counter and looked up and Andy and his mother, "who are they?" He said bluntly, looking to his mother for an answer.

   She sighed, "there are new neighbors, mrs. Jackson and her son Andy. I believe he's your age," she looked back over to the two, "this is my son Gareth, he is sixteen, what about you Andy?"

   "I Uh I'm seventeen," he choked out, shifting in his seat.

   "Why don't you and Andy go up to your room while we get to know mrs. Jackson?" Gareth's mother asked him, nodding as if telling him he didn't have a choice.

   Gareth looked down the Back at his mother, "sure," he sighed and waved for Andy to follow him upstairs.
