Charles' POV:
I was sat in front of my mirror quickly brushing my hair before I got into bed when my fiancé walks in. "I hope I didn't startle you," he says as he walks in.
"Not at all," I say back as he steppes closer. He sits next to me and takes my hand into his. Ben then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a box. "What's this?" I ask.
"Just a little something I got you." He then opens the box and pulls out a beautiful silver ring with blue diamonds added on for extra detail. It has me in awe. Ben then lifts my hand up and places the ring on my finger. My eyes meet his and for the first time in ages I smile in his presence, and it wasn't fake.
"Thank you..." I say as I stand up and walk to my bed.
*Time skip, Nick and Charlie are walking on top deck*
Nick's POV:
I was rambling on about my life to Charlie as we took a strole above deck. Once I finally realise that I don't even know why Charlie wanted to see me. "Charlie, you didn't want to see me to just chat, did you?" Must have noticed that I called him Charlie instead of Charles because he stops and stares as me.
"Charlie? Nobody calls me that. Well except for Ben." I wonder if it was even appropriate to call him Charlie.
"Is it ok if I call you that?" I ask and he nods, so I smile.
"But no, I didn't want to just chat, I wanted to ask you," He hesitates for a moment. "Why did you care about me? Why did you stop me from jumping?" I stop for a moment.
"Well, I just thought that nobody deserves to be forced to marry. But that doesn't mean they have no way out. Everything will get better eventually. Life is just too short as it is to just throw away because it feels like at a dead end. But it's not," Charlie stares at me for a moment.
"Well thank you," he says while looking down. Charlie then looks in my hand and sees my sketch book, he grabs it from my hand and asks me what it is. Charlie sits down and flips through my various art works.
"These are rather good, really good actually" He mutters sort of lost for words. Charlie comes across various drawings of basically nude people. "O-oh." He stutters and I laugh.
"These are drawn from life?" He asks and I nod my head.
"Thing is there are a lot of people willing to take their clothes off," He chuckles and I do as well.
"You like this woman, you have drawn her several times, I think you must of had a bit of a thing going off with her," I instantly shake my head.
"Um, not quite maybe with her hands though, she was a... one legged prostitute," I then flip to the next drawing showing the woman's full body.
"See," I say pointing to the art piece. Charlie then laughs in embarrassment for thinking I had an affair and I join him.
Charlie then stops and stares at me for the hundredth time.
"Why can't I be like you Nick, just run off whenever I feel like it," I smile.
"Why don't you, just run away. You don't need to care where you'll end up or what's going to happen, it doesn't matter as long as your happy." Charlie smiles back at me.
"I think we should go to a beach, just let go of everything you know? If it were that easy anyway."
"No, we will do it, we will drink cheap alcohol, ride on a rollercoaster till we throw up. We can ride a horse down the beach." As I explain all the things we can do together, his mother and her friends appear out of nowhere. His mother's face is in disgust but her friends looked pleased to see the man that had saved Charlies life. But I acted cool, that's when the sound for dinner rang.
"See you at dinner Nick," Charlie says as he walks off with his mother to go get ready for dinner. Shit. I forgot I was having dinner in first class today on account of me saving Charlie.
As im watching Charlie walk away I her one of his mothers friends (Sarah Clarkson) attempting to get my attention. Once I notice her she asks,
"Do you even know what your doing?" I laugh and shake my head.
"What are you planning to wear?" I just point to the outfit im in now, she sighs and shakes her head.
"Come on Im sure you'll fit into one of my son's suits" We then walk off.
*Time skip till dinner*
Charles' POV:
Im walking down the grand staircase and I see Nick looking completely different. His hair is slicked back and he is in a plain black and white suit but he still just looks, amazing. He looks up and realises im here and he smiles. I link arms with him as we catch the attention of Ben who is escorting my mother to dinner.
"Ben darling, im sure you remember Mr. Nelson," I say and Ben looks astonished.
"Wow, Nelson you'll fit right in I'm sure," Ben says while looking somewhat happy but it's probably fake. We walk through the dining hall and I introduce Nick to everybody on our way to the table. We let go of each other and I walk to go sit next to ben and Nick sits next to Sarah since she's the only one who is actually fond of him (With him being from the third class) apart from me.
Ben then tells everyone why Nick is joining us and lets it slip that he is from the third class, everyone's mood sort of changes but I expected that really, still non the less they had a nice time with him.
I share that Nick is a fine artist.
"Me and Charlie on what we define as 'fine art'," Say Ben and I remember the argument when we first boarded the ship. Me and bed had argued over where to put the paintings we brought with us and weather they are even worth putting up. Keep in mind we have very different opinions on art.
Nick laughs and Ben's reference even though he doesn't get it and so does everyone else.
Nick looks down at all the sets of cutlery he is provided with and looks confused. I smile, assuming that he only knows 'Knife and Fork'. He asks Sarah and she whispers back to him to just start on the outside and work his way in.
*Time skip till after they had just finished dinner*
Still Charles' POV:
Ben and all the other men have left to go to the brandy and Nick is just about to leave. He grabs my hand and kisses it but hands me a note as he does. He then walks away. I open the note and it reads 'Meet me at the grand staircase'. So I do.
I walk up the stairs and see Nick waiting at the top. Once he notices im there he smiles and says,
"So you wanna go to a real party?"
I smile and eagerly accept his offer.
Not long after I find myself sitting far below deck with loud Irish music being played and im clapping along to the beat, people are screaming and dancing around me. Nick is dancing with one of his friends called 'Tara Jones' and his other friend that we has with when we first saw each other, he was dancing with some girl called 'Imogen Heaney'. I see Tara leave Nick and him waving, im assuming Tara when to dance with her girlfriend.
Nick walks over to me and takes my hand, I plead him to not make me dance because I have no idea what im doing. He claims that neither does he and just tells me to 'Go with it'
"Were gonna gave to get a little closer though." Nick says as he puts his arm on my waist and I blush slightly as he pulls me closer to him. We then take of dancing to the loud and up beat music, all I can think we are going is side-stepping in circles. We both laugh and giggle as we goof around just having a good time. He then pulls me up and a table and challenges me to a tap dancing/Irish dancing battle. Little does he know, I've been talking lessons since I was three.
He taps a simple beat with his feet and I copy it but make sure to jazz it up a little. We repeat this prosses until I decide im going to win this and pull off a near to impossible rhythm, for beginners like Nick anyway.
We then Drink some cheap beer and get slightly drunk and then Nick decided to take me back to me room.
