chapter 1, page 2.

"We now begin the enlistment ceremony for the 104th Trainee Corps!"

"Goddamnit why does he have to be so loud.." I muttered under my breath whilst rubbing my ears. I had always had sensitive hearing.. loud noises and public places were never really my thing. I joined this place knowing there would be people yelling all the time and stuff like that, but this guy himself is super annoying..

"Honestly like he could just walk around and talk! It's his fault he stands in one place and has to yell at all of us." Sasha's words were all jumbld up and difficult to understand because of the potato she was practically inhaling.

"I am Keith Shadis and I had the misfortune to be assigned to train you bastards. And I'm not here to welcome you at all! Right now, you're mere cattle, fit for nothing but titan food! No less than cattle... In three years, we'll take you worthless pieces of crap and train you! Give you the means to fight the Titans. In three years, when you stand before a titan, will you still be food? Or will you be a noble wall, shielding the king?!" 

A few whispers could be heard from the people around me, but they weren't loud enough for that grandpa Shadis or whatever to hear.

"At least the old man is done talking." I leaned over to speak with my sister.

"Right? Like I thought I was gonna- gonna die with how long he was talking for!" She whisper yelled back to me, potato pieces flying out of her mouth.

Gross.

 "You there!"

Oh not again.

"Yes Sir!"

I looked over in the direction of the yelling to see a blond.. boy? Might be a girl. Sounds like a boy though., yelling back at the old man.

"Who are you?"

"Armin Arlert, from Shiganshina!"

Shiganshina.. so he was there when the wa-

"Yeah? That's a stupid name," 

Oh.

"Your parents give you that?"

"My grandfather!"

"Arlert, what are you doing here?"

Let's just timeskip. my motivation already lacking. timeskip to.. sasha having to run laps.

"All this running.. just because of a potato!" She hissed.

"Hah. That's what you get." I taunted my sibling as she ran slower and slower every minute.

I adjusted my headphones which were resting around my neck.

"-no. I don't want you getting hurt, Eren." 

As if out of nowhere I had heard the softed voice ever. It sounded like the song that a bubble would radiate. I turned my head around to see a black haired girl walking next to a brown haired boy. My eyes widened a tiny bit and it was almost like for once I was able to block out every sound in the universe when I looked at her. 

Until she looked at me and glared of course.

I started trying to form words only to come to the conclusion that not only was there something wrong with my voice in those few seconds, but she had walked away with the boy right after that little incident.

"Oh.."

"Hi!" A familiar bright voice squeaked in my ear. 

"Uh, hi? You're Armin Arlert right?"

"Eh? You know my name? Probably from what happened earlier right?." The boy sounded embarrassed so I decided to make this easy on him.

"Yes. You were really embarrassing to watch." 

"Oh."

 "-Well I just wanted to apologize for what happened with my friend Mikasa.. when she kinda gave you a mean stare? She doesn't usually do that to strangers." He was stuttering over a few words.

"It's ok. I didn't mind much."

I lied again. I did mind. But her name's Mikasa.. that's a really pretty name..

"Alright then! Well, I just wanted to make sure you didn't have a grudge against her because she's really nice once you get to know her!"

He was being genuinely nice. I could tell from the pitches of his voice. I couldn't hear any cracks of uncertainty or anything that would make him seem like a untrustworthy guy.

"Yeah you're good. Thanks for the apology."

"Mhm!.... Uh i'm gonna go now, have a good evening.." 

"Y/n."

"Y/n! Have a good evening Y/n!" He smiled as he ran off into the cabin.

What a stuttery guy.

"Anyways." I put my headphones (I'll explain later) on and yelled as loud as my vocal chords could possibly manage,

"Sasha!! Are you almost done?!"

"Yeah! *pant* I'm on *pant* my last la- *pant* lap! *pant*"

SECONd about the headphones, i have auditory hypersensitivity so i just decided to give it to y/n as well... idk  sorry if this upsets anyone, and just pretend noise cancelling headphones were created in this timeline for the sake of the story

third, sorry for how quick it was, its a rlly busy week for me this week so im tryna balance different things, but ill try to update either every day or every other day.
