- ' Carrie ' -
I woke up, hands gripped tightly around the soft fabric resting atop of my lap. I felt a finger brush along the side of my face, meaning to clip the loose strand of hair hanging free on the back of my ear.
"Are you all right? You were screaming."
I was taken aback. Sebastian sounded so soft; something you'd never think he'd be like. You'd think of him as someone who only thinks about himself. I was wrong.
I realized that I was settled in a beanbag. I must have fallen asleep watching The Proposal for the ent time. But where is everyone?
"I was?" I asked, and my voice came out rough.
He crouched in front of me. "Yeah. Must've been a bad dream, huh."
"Terrible." I muttered under my breath, and shoved the light blanket away from me gently.
"I'm guessing you should head home now? We have school tomorrow." he told me and took out his arm.
I grasped it and stood up from the beanbag. "Geez, I didn't even realize it's evening already."
He chuckled. "You've slept for quite some time."
We bid goodbyes to Maureen and left her house. As Sebastian opened the door, wind rustled through my hair. I felt chilly all over. Instinct made me wrap my arms around myself. I felt Sebastian glance at me for a second, and glanced back again. He started unbuttoning his checkered buttoned-down and wrapped it around my shoulder.
There it is again. Sebastian showing his soft side. I don't like it. It doesn't suit his buff appearance.
"Are you sure?" I asked him, wondering if he wanted it back.
"Don't make me take it from you, Bradley." he joked. His well-toned body was visible below the thin, white tshirt he wore.
As we've reached my house, I removed the shirt and returned it to him. He slid it back on and buttoned it slowly with his long, slender fingers.
"I'm heading home now. Night, Bradley." he said in a cool tone.
"Good night."
The following day, I decided to walk to school instead of riding the car or bus. "So you're walking to school now, I see."
Without turning, I immediately knew who it was.
"The early bird catches the worm, Sebastian." I replied, and rolled my eyes.
He quickened his pace and was now beside me. "But Carrie. The early hunter caught the early bird." he said and smirked.
"I knew you'd say that." I inquired and kicked a pebble.
The moment we've reached the school gate, he slid his large hands into mine. "Showtime, Bradley."
I sighed. "Your hand is too big for mine. It's uncomfortable."
Using his thumb, he traced circles along my palm that made me feel odd things all over. "You'll get used to it."
We walked together along the walkway, hands entwined together. Girls were glaring at me, jealous of how Sebastian chose me over them. I tightened my grip on his hand, and he grasped it reasurringly.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It was from an unknown caller.
"Darling? Darling Carrisa?" asked a familiar voice of a woman. Mom!
"Mommy!" I exclaimed.
"We're coming home! I can't wait to see you, my baby. I have great news for you, too!" she said excitedly.
I grinned. "What is it, Mommy?"
Sebastian eyed me a "Well?" look. I shrugged at him and waited for mom to answer.
"We're going to live in London." she said, "PERMANENTLY!"
My jaw dropped. "Going to live where permanently?" I asked for confirmation.
"London, sweetheart! The place you've always wanted to be ever since you were a young little girl!" she said proudly.
Sebastian's face was filled with curiosity.
"Yay! That's great, Mom. Tell Dad I miss him. I got to go! Bye! Love you!" I told her as enthusiastically as I could.
Sebastian shook me in the shoulder, a grim expression present in his face. "You're moving?"
"Yes." my stomach whirled.
"Where?" he asked.
I gazed upon him. A strand of hair fell out of his gelled, golden hair. His blue eyes were glimmering with curiosity, and his lips was pressed into a fine line.
"London." I said.
Color flushed out of his face. "WHAT?"
