"Dont get ahead of yourself"
Wolfie and Gwen had found ajax with his other stoner friends,ajax being a sweetheart left them behind joining Gwen and wolfie as they explored the fair. They turned back into little kids,they remembered their first time at the fair
At the age of 13 they had already created a reputation of winning every fair game and riding every ride,and they weren't going to stop their tradition any time soon.
After 5 rides Gwen was starting to feel the effect of the rides,It was all becoming a bit much. The three walked into the hall of mirrors,Gwen took a seat needing a breather.
"You not coming?" Woflie asked noticing Gwen sat down.
"You go on without me,I'll wait out here"
"What has all the powerful Gwendoline stein been defeated by a couple fair rides?" Ajax questioned jokingly.
"Whatever" she rolled her eyes as the two giggled away disappearing into the building.
Gwen took her phone out scrolling through social media for a bit,she got bored after a while,so she resorted to fixing her makeup, but as she placed the lip gloss onto her lips a voice spoke from behind her.
"Dont you think you've covered enough?"
She turned rolling her eyes.
"Weems" she huffed.
"Principal Weems or headmistress Weems of your royal Highness Weems or-"
"Dont get ahead of yourself" gwen scoffed.
"And why are you sat here not enjoying yourself?"
"I'm taking a break,or am I not allowed?" Gwen asked turning to weems.
"No need to be unpleasant"
"You should take your own advice" gwen sneered.
"Gwendoline stein-"
"Omds gwen you should've came,ajax almost stoned himself" Woflie laughed rushing over to Gwen,her eyes moved from Gwen to weems sat behind her.
"Principal Weems" she muttered her smile dropping.
"I do hope you guys are being responsible"
"Yeah,it was merely an accident" wolfie smiled as Ajax appeared out the exit stuffing his snakes back into his beanie.
"Ajax petropolus I do hope your not causing trouble"
"Me pff never" he lied continuing to poke the snakes back into his beanie.
"Well we best be off" Wolfie spoke grabbing Ajax and Gwens hands and slowly backing away.
"We'll see you Principal Weems"
Weemes squinted at the three, watching as they backed way into the crowds.
"She's so...ugh" Gwen complained shuddering.
"Dont mind her,she's just keeping an eye on you,and i don't blame her" Wolfie spoke walking between Gwen and Ajax.
"Whats that supposed to mean?"
"Lets just say you werent the most pleasurable person a year ago" Ajax added on.
Gwen raised her brows nodding,she didn't disagree with the statement it was very much true she wasn't the most pleasurable person a year ago but she had changed now,at least she thought she had changed.
"So where we off to now?"Gwen asked smiling brightly
"Fireworks" Ajax beamed like a little kid on Christmas he had a special liking for fireworks.
Gwens smile lowered at the the mention of the word Fireworks.
"I cant" she spoke.
"Why not?" Wolfie asked confused.
"I just cant"
"You've never even seen them" Ajac spoke pretty bummed out.
"I just can't guys...okay"
"Alright,then we should start walking in the opposite direction,they start in about..." ajax looked at his phone.
"Now" he spoke smiling nervously.
Before the three's feet could even move, the sky shone with hundreds of colours painting the darkness,the loud bangs thundered through the air and by the time they had reached Gwen ears she was already in a state of fear.
Her feet began to move before her head could even understand where she was going.
"GWEN!" Ajax and Wolfie shouted chasing after Gwen as she dissappeared into the woods.
She got faster and faster,she clambered through bushes,the thorns scratched at her skin,her heart began to beat faster as she wandered further and further into the woods,the banging got quieter, the lights got further. She stopped.
She bent over holding onto her knees and panting.
She leaned on a tree dropping onto the ground trying to catch a breath.
After a couple minutes of sitting in silence,she got up and began walking through the woods,she just wanted to get back to her room,she just wanted to get somewhere safe.
Her ears pricked up as roars gradually became louder in the distance, she looked over into the distance a beast like creature stood tall towering over a body laying on the ground,the creature dissappeared leaving Gwen to notice a familiar dark figure stood idly,the person moved to the body Gwen watched as they kneeled beside it,after a while they ran off leaving the body to wither away.
Gwen rushed over kneeling down,her face dropped,it was rowan,his mutilated body lay covered in blood. Gwen whimpered at the sight of a boy she once called a friend. She didn't know what to do she didn't know what she could do.
She just sat there waiting.
Waiting for him to move,waiting him to speak waiting for his chest to rise up as he took a deep breath. But there was nothing... He didnt move,he didnt speak,and he didn't take one final breath...he was gone.
And there was only one person to blame from her understanding.
