"Alpa."
Grex and Shilkate dipped their heads to the Queen. Alpa rose to greet them.
"Any news?" She hurred in a voice as shimmering as a waterfall and as boiling as liquid fire.
"Yes. Petal wishes to speak with you," Grex reported.
"Petal? The pixie?"
"Yes. She says there has been a disturbance; that a dragon, unicorn, and human will journey together to save the universe," Shilkate added.
"She is wise and well-known," Alpa mused, "and I have no doubt that her prophecy is correct, but even the best minds grizzle with age."
"Well, you would know that, now, wouldn't you?" Zerno joked. Alpa's handsome mate tossed his magnificent, serpentine head.
"Yes; yes, I would. But, pixies do not have eternal life like unicorns and dragons. They wither like humans."
"No one can argue that," Zerno growled, "humans can be feebler than prey."
"Either way, she has served the World of Lore with a vast majority of her life. I will speak with her, discover more about the prophecy."
