It had been a few days since the funeral and a dark cloud seemed to loom over Visenya, she felt herself fall deeper into her depression and so was Aegon - he had tried in the beginning to be the stronger of the two, to be there for his wife but there was only so much he could do and feeling so powerless didn't make him feel so good, so he had gone back to drowning himself in cups of wine. It wasn't as bad as before but still his drinking problem was becoming apparent to everyone again.
Visenya hadn't left her bedroom for weeks, even refusing to eat for she didn't feel hunger, she could only feel her anguish - then things slowly started to become more bearable she was able to get out of bed, eat a bit, she could finally look at her babe and hold him without bursting into tears though her nights were still filled with screams, every time she closed her eyes she relived that moment, of holding her stillborn baby and the screams would start, Aegon would always wake up and try his best to lull her back to sleep. Then she was finally able to go back to having a somehow normal day to day life, leaving her chambers and spending time with Helaena and her children, Baelon with them as well.
It had been a normal afternoon, Visenya was in her chambers with her maids tending to Baelon when two people stumbled inside, she noticed Aemond first, his face formed with a scowl around his arm was a completely disheveled looking Aegon who could barely stand on his feet,
"I'm sorry to barge in like this but people have found my brother completely pissed drunk in the gardens, I thought best to bring him to his chambers" Aemond spoke his voice firm the underlining anger he was feeling for his brother clear as day,
"I- Thank you Aemond... If you don't mind you two can leave and take Baelon" Visenya was quick to say turning to her maids who swiftly nodded and left the room.
Aemond slowly brought Aegon to the bed letting his body flop on top of it,
"I truly am sorry Visenya" he let out when he turned back to her,
"It's okay Aemond, I appreciate you bringing him here" Visenya let out, Aemond nodded his head and left the chambers leaving Visenya alone with her drunken husband. She let out a heavy sight while looking at her husband laying now in a fetal position,
"Aegon" she whispered painfully as she sat down next to him a hand coming to comb hair away from his face,
"Please you must stop this... I know... I know this is how you cope, I haven't been coping exactly the best either but... you have to understand the actions you make are reflected on me" Visenya slowly started to speak and her husband squirmed underneath her,
"I'm s-sorry" he let out between a sob and Visenya sighted as she placed a kiss on his forehead,
"I love you Aegon, seeing you hurting cuts me deep just like I know you seeing me hurting does the same... but we must become stronger, not for us but for the Ladies and Lords who are constantly watching us. Every mistake we make will reflect in our future, and as much as I love you with my everything Aegon I am an Heir... I can't let my reputation turn bad" Visenya whispered,
"I do not wish to be King!" He loudly let out as another cry escaped his lips and Visenya froze,
"Aegon my dear... you will be King one day, King consort but you will be and I wish for no one else to be by my side when I'm to be Queen" Visenya softly spoke letting her fingers run through his hair trying to make him relax,
"Mother nowadays is always talking about me becoming King and how I need to better myself, I can't deal with it Visenya. I have no wish to rule, no taste for duty. I wish we could just ran away to our little Island and spend the rest of my days there with you" Aegon said as he sat up, his elbows on his knees while his face rested on his hands,
"Aegon... until you and I become Queen and King it will be a long time, until you don't need to worry about it, and I will teach you how to be a great King consort" Visenya whispered,
"I think my mother sees me becoming King a bit sooner than what you expect" Aegon let out and Visenya choked on her breath, there it was again, Aegon admitting something as large as this,
"Aegon, I've told you before, you mustn't speak these things. If the wrong person hears you... Aegon this is treason, my mother is the rightful Heir to the throne and after her me..." Visenya quickly let out, Aegon nodded his head furiously as more sobs escaped him,
"I know this Visenya" he let out after a few minutes,
"My sister is the heir, not me" he slowly let out as he finally looked his wife in the eyes,
"What sort of brother steals his sister's birthright?" Visenya heart strained at the imager of her husband so broken, so lost, questioning his goodness.
"Aegon you are a good man, I know you would never intentionally do this" she let out as she grabbed his face squeezing his cheeks as she looked deeply into his violet eyes,
"And one day you will make a great King" she let out and a small smile spread through Aegon's lips.
The next few days Aegon had stayed inside their chambers, he hadn't touched a single drop of wine but this had its repercussions, he was going through withdrawals but his wife never left his side, Visenya would clean away his sweat and give him cold baths whenever the pains and fevers of him not taking his poison. Visenya couldn't leave him, how could she when her husband was trying to better himself, for him yes but mostly for her and she knew this, if it wasn't for her Aegon would never give up the drinking but for her he would do anything.
Aegon had been feeling better now and begged for Visenya to leave him and go for a walk, maybe even ride her dragon he knew it would be good for her and after a long discussion and him constantly reassuring her that he would be good on his own Visenya finally left her chambers.
She had walked aimlessly through the corridors of the Red Keep, enjoying the simple fact that she felt alright with getting outside of her chambers after her almost entire month of being confided inside of them. She felt lighter, of course she still carried the pain of losing one of her children but it seemed more bearable now, sometimes it would hit her all at once again and she would cry and yell but that was normal and she had learned this, it was normal to go through highs and lows and she could now cope with it. She hadn't realised she had walked up to the training grounds until literally the moment she heard the metal swords clinging, she looked up at the people sparring and wasn't surprised to see Sir Criston and Aemond, she stopped and watched in awe as Aemond seemed to dance while sparring, it was clear how good Aemond was with a sword, clearly starting to become one of the best swordsman of the realm. When he disarmed Sir Criston making him surrender Visenya quickly clapped celebrating his win, this made him turn to see who was cheering for him and a small smile appeared on his lips when he saw Visenya. He helped Criston back to his feet and quickly put their weapons away. The moment he reached Visenya his smile had widened,
"I see you are out of your chambers" Aemond said and Visenya nodded,
"Up for a walk in the gardens?" He requested and Visenya smiled at him,
"Of course brother" she said which surprised Aemond and even surprised herself, she knew she had grew to care for Aemond and she wasn't sure when it was when she started to see him more like a brother, maybe it had been during and after the funeral of her late babe, the way he had stood next to her during it and even after while her and Aegon cried, she had quickly understood that Aemond clearly cared for her so she cared for him as well.
