Blocks or Bugs

warning: the middle portion of this chapter consists of poorly-written banter with no effect on the story. the beginning and end have some actual relationship development though. 

You had arrived back in the US and were happily greeted by Mitch and Kim, who welcomed you back and helped you unpack. You had, of course, told them both everything about what happened, with Kim squealing in excitement and Mitch offering a more practical approach. You were grateful to have both of them, and you spent your first night back attempting to stay up late, but ultimately falling asleep on the couch from jet lag. 

It was now a few weeks later, and now that you were adjusted back into your apartment, you were ready to begin streaming again. In the meantime, you and Fundy had texted at least once each day, often endlessly chatting on Discord, and falling asleep in each others' presence. While you definitely preferred being with him in person, you appreciated this time. You loved staring into his eyes on the screen, your phones being the only thing illuminating your faces in the dark, fighting to stay awake. You also loved waking up every morning with the first thing you see being Fundy's sleeping figure on the screen in front of you. 

Fundy had also been streaming himself playing Hollow Knight, and he had beaten the basic ending and gotten much better at the game. You were there too for most of the streams, helping (or hindering) him along the way. Your communities had blended together at this point, with many of your fans tuning into Fundy's streams and vise versa. You and Fundy had also decided to go public with your relationship to clear up any confusion and so you didn't have to hide. Of course, you kept the details to yourselves. Some fans accused Fundy of cheating on Dream, but Dream canonically left Fundy at the altar, so it balanced out. (yes I am still salty about that)

Tonight was a major collaboration between two communities: the Hollow Knight speedrunning community, including yourself, Skurry and fireb0rn, and the MCYT community, including Fundy, Ranboo and Wilbur Soot. The stream would be hosted by Fundy and advertised on the channels of all the participants. 

The structure was a sort of competition, with all contestants doing challenges across both games and the scores being calculated at the end for each team. It was an extremely hyped event that all your fans were excited for. 

Before the stream, you and the other participants got into a Discord call to say hello and set up any technical glitches. 

"Hey everyone!" Fundy greeted. 

Everyone said hello at around the same time. 

"What's up?" Skurry asked. 

"Ah, nothing much," Ranboo replied.

"Me neither to be honest," Wilbur contributed.

"So, which game are we doing first?" Fire asked. 

"I thought we'd start with Minecraft. It's an easier game to get us warmed up before we take on your game."

"Makes sense."

"We ready to start?" Fundy asked. 

"Yes!" "Sure!" "Affirmative," the rest of the call responded. 

"Starting stream now..." Fundy said, starting his stream and waiting a few minutes for the viewer count to rise, "Hey chat! I am joined by some lovely, lovely people today. And we're gonna do a little competition--"

"Yeah, you Hollow Knight-ers are going down," Wilbur retorted. 

"Nuh-uh! Minecraft is for kids!" you spat back. 

"Have you ever won MCC?" Wilbur asked. 

"Have you done a 50-hour speedrun for a meme?" Skurry said back.
