Scream or Cuddle

"AAAAAAAAH!"

You woke up screaming. You were in a cold sweat, your head was pounding, and you were hyperventilating.

You took in your surroundings. Fundy's living room. It was dark. What time was it? You checked your phone. 3AM.

You heard Fundy's bedroom door creaking. A very tired looking Fundy with messed up hair stuck his head out the door, "Y/N? Are you ok?"

You caught your breath, "Uh, y-yeah. I just had a nightmare."

Fundy nodded in understanding, "Do you need anything?" You shook your head.

"Alright, I'm going back to bed. Goodnight, Y/N," Fundy mumbled, receding into his room.

You sunk back into your blanket, staring at the ceiling. No, the scaly green monster wasn't real. You weren't being eaten alive. Your entire family wasn't dead. Everything was normal.

You saw darkness creeping on the edge of your vision. You closed your eyes, convincing yourself that it wasn't real. You just needed sleep. You tried to relax.

Movement was heard outside the door. An ambulance blared its siren in the street. Normal city traffic. Nothing unusual. Nothing to be concerned about.

But what if...

You couldn't shake the feeling that whatever horror setting you were placed in during the nightmare had wormed its way into your reality. That ambulance was rushing to save people from the monster. Soon, it would find its way here, and devour you, too.

Your eyes shot open. Still just the ceiling.

But you didn't feel safe. You couldn't calm down. Maybe if...if someone else was there, next to you, to protect you, you wouldn't feel so vulnerable. But would he mind? Would it be inappropriate to ask to sleep in Fundy's bed?

Well, it was 3AM. You knew you wouldn't be able to sleep properly, and you might wake up screaming again if you had another nightmare. Fundy will understand.

You slowly sat up, removing the blanket from you. You grabbed your phone, and walked to Fundy's door. It was slightly ajar.

You opened it, slowly. It creaked a bit. Fundy's head popped out of the pile of blankets on the bed, his eyes half-closed in tiredness.

"Y/N? Do you need anything?"

"Could...could I...sleep here tonight? The nightmare really scared me."

"Uh, yeah, sure, make yourself comfortable," Fundy said before laying his head back down.

You lifted the covers and got into bed on the side opposite Fundy. You adjusted your pillow, and laid down your head. You did feel a lot safer. Knowing that someone else was here, that you aren't alone.

You woke up to your alarm blaring from your phone. Luckily, you'd slept well. No more nightmares.

You felt warmness around you. Then the warmness shifted, groaned, and rolled over.

Oops. You were cuddling Fundy during the night.

You quickly shut off your alarm and got out of bed, blushing slightly. You got prepared for the day. The laundry you had hung out in the main room was now dry, so you folded it back into your suitcase, got dressed, and packed up your stuff.

Before you left, you snuck back into Fundy's room. He was still asleep. You took a sticky note and pen from his desk and wrote a note:

Good morning, Floris!
